What is New when Navigating through CIS-Net?
At the top of the results page CIS-Net provides a navigation index allowing you to display
results by work title in alphabetical order (A-Z) or by non-alphabetical character (.?123) order.
How does this Work?
Let’s take an example with a search on Title contains REARS:
As you can see with this example there are 14 pages of results. In order to avoid
scrolling through 14 pages of results you can use the alphabetical order facility. You
can see in the above screenshot some letters are greyed-out, which means there are
no results corresponding to titles beginning with the those letters. In the provided
example there are results for Titles beginning with C, E, L, R, S, T or V. If you click
on ‘E’ you’ll directly obtain results with Titles beginning with E. In the provided
example you can also see there are no titles beginning with non-alphabetical
characters, as the ‘.?123’ button is greyed-out.

Let’s now take another example providing results containing non-alphabetical
characters (.?123):
Be aware that Titles are sorted in the following order:
1. Special non-alphabetical characters
2. Numeric characters.
From the results page you can jump from one letter to another and the system will
automatically calculate the number of results per letter.
Use the back button on the top left of the results page to go back to previous pages.
Warnings
•
CIS-Net provides you with alphabetical results on Titles whatever the search
criteria you have used for your search.
•
In some cases the number of results returned may change when you navigate
from one letter to another (this happens when one or several
database(s)/node(s) fail(s) to respond following the initial request). When it
happens you will see the following message: ‘Some databases which data were
included in the previous results page did not answer to this request: Database X,
Database Y. Therefore the total number of results has changed’.

Why Should I Use this Facility?
You should use this feature when you conduct a search that is likely to return a large
volume of results (this eliminates the need to scroll through all the returned results).
The most frequent use of this facility is the research through a whole right owner’s
catalogue of works as shown in below screenshot.
For more information on this feature please consult the MWI User Manual (available from
MWI, Help tab), § 2.2.6.1.1 and 2.2.6.2.1
