Download FactoryWiz DNC Software
Youshouldhavereceivedane‐mailthatcontainsthelinkstotheinstallationfiles.

1. MakesureyouareconnectedtotheInternet.
2. Openthee‐mailcontainingthelinktotheinstallationfile.
3. ClickthelinktodownloadtheinstallerforFactoryWizDNCfrom:http://download.factorywiz.com
4. IfyouarepromptedtoOpen/RunorSavethefile,clickontheSavepulldownarrow,andselectSaveAs,and
savethefiletoyourDesktop.
5. Lookforyoursoftwaretobedownloading.
Note:Thiscouldbeinapop‐upwindoworinyourbrowserwindow'sfooter.
Install FactoryWiz DNC
1. LocatethemostrecentlydownloadedfileontheDesktop.
2. Double‐clicktorunfwdnc_server_setup.exe.
3. Whenpromptedforapassword,enterFWDNC2015(allcapsnospaces).
4. FollowtheonscreeninstructionsandclicktheNextbuttononeachscreentousethedefaultsettings.
5. ClickFinish.
6. Twoshortcutsarecreatedonyourdesktop:FactoryWizDNCServerandFactoryWizDNCClient.
License your Software
1. LocatetheshortcuttoFactoryWizDNCServeronyourdesktopanddouble‐clicktoruntheserverinthe
background.
2. LocatetheshortcuttoFactoryWizDNCClientanddouble‐clicktoopentheapplication.
3. ClicktheLogInbuttonandloginwiththeusernameAdminandthepasswordFactoryWiz.
Note:Thepasswordiscase‐sensitive.
4. Ontheleftsideofthescreen,clickLicensing.
FiveUserKeysdisplayatthetopofthelicensinginformation.
5. CopyUserKey1through5bydraggingyourcursortoselectallfiveUserKeysandthenclicktherightmouse
buttonandselectCopy.
6. Openanewe‐mailandtypeyourcompanynameandLicenseRequestinthesubjectline.
7. Pastethelicensekeysinthebodyofthee‐mail.
8. Besuretoincludeallyourcontactinformationandsendtolicensing@factorywiz.com.

FactoryWizDNCisamoderntouchscreenaccessibleDNCcommunicationsystemforthesecuretransferoffilesto

Starting the FactoryWiz DNC Server
TheFactoryWizDNCServerisanapplicationthatrunsinthebackgroundtoconnectyourmachinestothe
FactoryWizDNCClient.
TostartFactoryWizDNCServer,dooneofthefollowing:

privilegestoadministerthesystem,whichincludesadding,changingandremovingusersandmachines.
Configuremenu
Monitoring
FactoryWizDNCprovidesfullintegrationwiththeFactoryWizMonitoringsolutiontomakeiteasytoupgradetoa
fullmonitoringsysteminthefuture.Withthistightintegration,monitoringdatasuchasmachineidlereasonscan
beenteredfromanyDNCclientstation–orfilequeuingcanbeperformedfromdatainputtabletsusedforyour
monitoringsystem.Informationlikemacrooutputsandprobedataareeasilysharedbetweenthetwo.
Users and Permissions
AdditionaluserscanbeallowedaccesstotheFactoryWizDNCClient.Thedefinitionofeachuserincludesfull
controloverindividualactionsthatcanbeperformedbythatuserandthemachinestheyareallowedtosee.

Set Permissions
EachuserhasacustomizablesetofpermissionsthatcontrolthetaskstheyareallowedperforminFactoryWiz
DNCClient.Youcanrestrictanenduserfromperformingcertaintasksandviewingcertainmachines.
Note:Whenanewuserisadded,allpermissionsaregrantedbydefaultexceptfortheabilitytoconfigurethe
system.Onlytrustedusersshouldbeallowedtochangethesystemconfiguration.
1. OntheUserspage,selectauserintheUserslist.
2. Selectorcleartheindividualpermissionsforthatuser.

ClosePort:Allowtheusertocloseaporttoamachine.Typically,aportisclosedonlytotroubleshoota
problemwithcommunication.

ConfigureSystem:Allowtheusertoconfigurethesystem.Thispermitstheusertoadd/removeusers
andmachines.Thisoptionisdisabledbydefault.

EditFiles:AllowtheusertoeditfilesusingtheFactoryWizEditor.Ifyoudonotwanttheusertoeditthe
NCcodecontainedinafile,disablethispermission.

ManageFiles:Allowtheusertomanagefiles,whichincludesmanagingfolderlocationsandcontents,
copying,renaminganddeletingfiles.

ManualReceive:Allowtheusertoreceivefilesmanually.

ToolbreakStart:Allowtheusertorestartthetransferofafileafteratoolbreakatthemachine.

machinesthatarevisibletothenewuser.
Control the Machines Visible to a User
1. OntheUserspage,selectauserintheUserlist.
InthelistofMachinesVisible,anymachinegroupthatishighlightedinthelistwillbevisibletotheuseronthe
mainmenu.Anygroupthatisnothighlightedwillnotbedisplayedtotheuser.
Bydefault,ALLGROUPSishighlightedforanewuser.Thisallowsthenewusertoseeallmachinegroups.
2. InthelistofMachinesVisible,selectagrouptomakeitvisibletotheuser.Selectahighlightedgrouptoclearit
andmakeitinvisibletotheuser.HighlighALLGROUPStomakeallmachinevisibletotheuser.
3. Tosaveyourchangesandreturntothemainmenu,clickReturntoMainMenu.

3. IfyourSMTPconnectionissecuredbySSL,selectUseSSL/TSLEncryption.

Duplicate an Existing Machine
Itisofteneasierandmorereliabletocreateanewmachinebyduplicatingtheconfigurationofanexisting
machine.Theinstallationcomeswithbasicmachinetypesamples.Asanexample,ifyourfactoryhasFanuc
controls,selectKitamurafromthesamplemachinesthatcomewithyourinstallation.

Create a Machine Group
Machinegroupsarepropertiesofmachines.Youdefineamachinegroupintheconfigurationsettingsofa
machine.Onceagroupisdefined,itcanbeselectedforothermachines.
MachinegroupshelpyouorganizeyourCNClistbycellordepartment,makingitsimpletofindorsearchfor
machines.

visibilitysettingsforotherusersdefinedinthesystem.
Propagate settings to other machines
Thesettingsdefinedforonemachinecanbepropagatedtoothermachines.Forexample,ifyoucreateanew
machinegrouporcustomizesendandreceivedirectories,youcanpropagatethechangestoothermachines
withouthavingtoupdateeachmachineonebyone.

WhenyouinstallanewversionofFactoryWizDNCorinstallthesoftwareonanewcomputer,youcancopythese
filestotheFactoryWizDNCinstallationfolderintheSHARED\CONFIGURATIONSdirectory.

FactoryWizDNCsupportsmultiplesimultaneousfiletransfers,drip‐feedcapability,mid‐programrestart,remote
requests,Mazatroltransfers,andmore.SupportforEthernetmachinesmeansyoucanuseFactoryWizDNCto
transfertomachinesactingasFTPClients,FTPServers,orMicrosoftSMBservers.
ThestructureofFactoryWizDNCseparatesmessageandconfigurationdirectoriessoyoucanuseWindows
securityfeaturestofurtherlockdownaccesswithoutmanuallymanipulatingeachfile.
FilesthatarenotaccessibletoyourDNCsystemcanautomaticallybeimportedfromlocaldrivesandremovable
mediawithoutriskofinterruption.Spendlesstimemovingone‐time‐usefilesintoapprovedprogramdirectories,
andneverinterruptadrip‐feedbyaccidentallyremovingaUSBstickagain.
FactoryWizDNCcanmanagefilesgoingtoandfromUSBdrivesfornon‐attachedmachines,ensuringthatnewly
modifiedfilesgetsenttotheappropriateinboxfolderforproperreview

Before proceeding, you will need to create a Service Login account. This will be the account under which the DNC service runs, so it will need access to any directories that contain part programs, including write access to any inbox directories. YouwillfirstneedtoopenaCommandwindowwithadminrights.Todothis:
1. OntheWindowsStartmenu,clickAllPrograms>Accessoriesandthenright‐clickonCommand
Prompt.
2. SelectRunasAdministrator.
Inthecommandpromptwindow:
