Overview:
The “Studio HOT LINE” is a Phone Flasher that is specifically designed to address
the needs of the broadcaster. It incorporates many of the features that heretofore
required several different devices to notify studio personnel of ringing phones and
people at the door ringing the bell.
Features include:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Microprocessor based circuitry for ultimate reliability and no “lock-ups”
Multiple Ultra-Brite LED’s used for indicators, no bulbs to fail or replace
Distinctive color visual indicators for both phone and door indication
Distinctive audible signals for both phone and door indication
3 position audible control switch; OFF/LOW/HIGH
Remotely mutable control for audible signals; contact closure or TTL low to
mute
Door input indicator and audible control by contact closure or TTL low to
activate
Distinctive DC output voltages for driving the DME Solid State Relay Pack or
customers own SSR for turning on high wattage incandescent lamps for both
phone and door indication
Terminal block with screw connections are used for external I/O control for
ease of wiring
Small size, 5.75 x 2.6 x 1.1 You can mount it almost anywhere with screws or
supplied Velcro
Operation:
1. The Studio Hot Line is an indicating device for either telephone ringing or
door announcing. Upon connection to the supplied power supply, a normal
telco line (one that supplies ringing voltage of at least 70VAC, 20-60Hz) the
unit will indicate by flashing multiple yellow ultra-brite LED’s and a distinctive
audible “ring” pattern that may be turned off or set to low or high volume.
2. The door announcer input uses either a contact closure or a TTL low to
activate multiple ultra-brite red LED’s and a distinctive “ding-dong” ring
pattern. As is with the phone audible, this audible is controlled by the
common off-low-high switch and external mute control.
3. External incandescent lamps may be operated using the SSR output of the
Hot Line. The output is a current limited 5VDC drive voltage that follows the
pattern of the LED’s and is compatible with the DME Studio Solid State Relay
Pack or most SSR’s available in the marketplace.
Installation:
1.
2.
3.
Connect the DC input line from the power supply to the 9-12VDC connector
on the Hot Line. Note: Polarity is not a factor as the unit is designed with
Polarity Guard circuitry. It will even accept 9-15VAC!
Connect the power supply to any available AC receptacle.
Connect the RJ11 modular connector to the telephone jack.

4.
5.
6.
7.
Connect the “Door” input to a door bell button or wireless door bell receiver
that has been modified to give a TTL low when rung. The left-most terminal
is positive polarity for TTL applications. (Do not connect any foreign voltage
to the “Door” terminals or damage will result to the unit!)
Connect the “Mute” input to a set of normally open contacts on your Studio
Slave Relay Pack or competitive product. The “Mute” input may also be
activated by a TTL low, with the left-most terminal being positive. (Do not
connect any foreign voltage to the “Mute” terminals or damage will result to
the unit!)
If desired, connect the SSR output drive voltage to your Solid State Relay
Pack or other SSR. The left-most terminal is positive polarity as marked.
The unit may be hung on the wall using the provided screws or the Velcro
hook & loop fastener materials provided. The mounting hole pattern on the
rear of the enclosure is 4 inches center to center.
