4.6 Switch Daemon (nsswitchd)
This NetSpec daemon was designed to configure the switch. In the run phase , it opens
the software switch device driver, /dev/atmsw, and executes ioctl’s to setup the
connections and set the switch parameters as specified in the script. It does NOT generate
a report.
4.6.1 NetSpec Script

The two allowable types are "switch" and "connection". Below are the valid parameters
for each.

Description
Specifies the length of the queues on the
switch. This version of the software switch
does per-class queuing and two classes are
used (VBR and ABR).
The software switching function is a
KURT (KU Real-Time) module that is
invoked on a periodic schedule. This
specifies the period in microseconds.
This specifies the capacity of the links on
the switch in Mbps.
To increase the throughput of the switch, it
was modified to switch AAL5 packets into
which we can stuff several AAL0 cells.
This gave the illusion of higher cell-level
throughput. This parameter specifies the
number of AAL0 cells to pack into AAL5
packets.
