Understanding “The Battery”

The performance of an electric bike is measured by its ability to
assist in climbing hills* and how far it will run on the flat at a
constant speed. This depends on a light frame, low friction, a
highly efficient electric motor and also on the energy stored in
the battery.

In a battery of specified voltage (V), energy stored is measured in
ampere hours (Ah). This measure indicates how many hours a
battery can produce a fixed current - amps (A).
Therefore, the high voltage 36V 16Ah lithium polymer battery
provides an impressive performance when travelling longer
distances.

Electric Bike FAQ
Q. Do I need to wear a crash helmet when I ride my Electric
Bike?
Although it’s not a legal requirement we would strongly
recommend that you wear one when riding your electric bike.
Q. What servicing will my Electric Bike require?
We recommend that you have it serviced once a year.
Q. Will my Electric Bike need an MOT?
Your electric bike does not need any form of MOT.
Q. How long is the lifespan of my Electric Bike battery?
The life of your Freego electric bike battery varies depending on
how much you use it. They are guaranteed for 2 years against a
total failure. They should be charged twice a month even when the
bike has not been used.
Q. Do I need insurance to ride my Electric Bike?
Although it is not a legal requirement for your electric bike, we
strongly recommend that you purchase separate cycle insurance.
Q. Does my Electric Bike come with a warranty?
Your FreeGo electric bike frame has a warranty of 4 years, the
battery of 2 years. All other parts, with the exception of brake
blocks/pads, tyres, lights and cables etc, have a warranty of 1
year. The Warranty is not transferable.
To qualify for the exchange bike you must be the original owner
with the original receipt and have registered your bike with us.

Q. Do I need to register with the DVLA or get road tax?
No.
Q. Is my Electric Bike road legal?
Yes, our electric bikes are fully CE and EN15194 approved.
Q. How do I recharge my Electric Bike?
Your electric bike comes with a mains charger that simply plugs into
any mains outlet. A full charge will take 4-6 hours. There are some
cities that are installing ‘Park and Charge’ points where you can as
the name suggests park and charge your electric bike. It is advisable
to charge your battery up once every 2 weeks even when you are not
using it.
Q. Do I get a warning when my battery needs recharging?
Your electric bike has a battery level indicator. When the battery level
indicator shows one light the battery will need recharging.
Q. How much will it cost to charge my Electric Bike?
A full re-charge will cost literally pennies from a standard mains
socket. Electricity is charged in kWh (Kilo-Watt-Hours), your electric
bike uses less than 1kWh to fully charge the battery.
