Installation
Instrument Communication Port
The instrument communication port, see Figure 17, is used to
connect the Agilent SPS 3 to the computer controlling your
instrument.
To connect your Agilent SPS 3:

Plug one end of the supplied RS-232 cable into the instrument
communication port.

Connect the other end of the RS-232 cable to a serial port (COM1)
on your computer or to the serial port on the Agilent 5100
ICP-OES.
Ensure that the correct communications parameters are set for the
Agilent SPS 3, the computer or on the 5100 ICP-OES. The required
instrument communication settings are listed within Table 4. Only
the Baud rate setting can be altered, via the instrument software. The
instrument software must also be set to the corresponding values.

I/O Port
The I/O port provides an accessory interface, for example, this
interface is used for communication between the Agilent SPS 3 and
the Agilent SVS (Switching Valve System).
