ROOF VENTS
Roof vents on all Titantrailersare designedto allow light into the trailer
duringthe daytimealong with fresh air. Also warm air will escapewhen
the vent is open. However, your roof vent is not designedto be open
when traveling. Make sure that all vents are closed prior to towing over
the road. Pop-uproof vents may remainopen duringtravelthough.

SILVER MOD WHEEL MAINTENAI{CE
Your new wheels do require care to maintaintheir factory appearance.
We strongly suggest you take a few reasonablesteps to protect your
investment. Typical road soils trap moisturewhich can cause corrosion
over a periodof time. Brakedust is also corrosiveand can causepitting
of the wheel's finish. These soils must be removedregularly, possibly
weekly,dependingon your drivinghabits. Aftercleaning,alwaysapply a
coat of soft non-abrasivecream wax to help prevent surface corrosion.
Surface corrosion or rust can be preventedwith proper care and is not
covered under warranty.

torqueon your traileraxle. Torqueis a measureof the amountof tightening appliedto a fastener(nut or bolt) and is expressedas length x
force. For example,a force of 90 poundsappliedat the end of wrench
one foot long will yield90 lbs.-ft.of torque. Torquewrenchesare the best
methodto assurethe properamountof torqueis being appliedto a fastener.
ROOF iIAINTENAI{CE
Inspect the roof coating once a year. Check for shrinking or cracked '
sealantthat will lead to roof leak. Titan uses high qualitycaulk which is
availablethrough Titan local or RV dealers. Wax your Titan roof at least
2 times a year.
EXTERIORSKIN MAINTENANGE
Wash regularwith mild soap. Use
pressurewasher but don't exceed
2000 psi. Wax trailerwith non-abrasive wax at least twice a year. Use
mud flapson your vehicleto reduce
rockchips.

any bare spots be touched up with a matchingtrailerframe paint.
1. Start all bolts or nuts by hand to preventcross threading.

DOORS, BARLOGKS AND RAilP HI{GES
Door holdbacksare designed to hold doors open when on uneven
ground. They are not designedto hold doors open under windy conditions. Lubricateall door and ramp hingesevery3 monthswith a SAE 30

Door hinges are drilled and greased at the factory. Use a cone shaped

LOADING TRAILER
You shouldload 60% of your cargo'sweightin the frontof the trailer. This
will put approximately10% of the loaded trailer weight on the hitch.
lf there is insufficienthitchweightthe trailerwill not tow properly.lt could
be unstable, difficultto control, and make towing unsafe. Properweight
distributionis imperativeand diagramedbelow. Alwayssecuretrailerto
tow vehiclewhen loadingor unloading, especiallyfrom the rear of trailer.

JUDGING TONGUE WEIGHT
The desired hitch weight is 10"/. of the total loaded trailer weight.
lf scales are not readilyavailable, you may estimateyour total loaded
hitchweightby comparinga knownweightto the hitchweight. The proper way, however,to accuratelymeasuretongueweight is by takingyour
loadedtrailerto a local scale, such as those found at gravelcompanies
or highwayweigh stationscales. Weighthe trailerand then the tongue
separatelyand the tongue should be 10"/"of total loadedtrailerweight.
10% tongueweightis necessaryfor safe towingand handlingof trailer.

TRAILER TOWING SAFEW TIPS
INSTABILITY
Swaying (or whipping)of a tow vehicle/trailercombinationat low speeds
may get worse as speed increases. lf this happens, take your foot off the
gas pedal. Steer straight ahead while
manually applying the trailer brakes.
Then brake gently after the combination

trailer sway and may also be requiredby
law in some states.
Check cargo first to be sure that trailer is loadedheavierin the front. lf
not, repositionthe load so you get 1O/oof the total trailerweighton the
tongue. Next, make certainthe rear of the tow vehicle is not overloaded.
Then checkfor wheelwobbleon bothvehiclescausedby bearingfailure,
loose lug nuts or loose spindlenuts. Now checkthe tow vehicle'ssuspension alignment. Finally, make sure that you are not exceedingthe
recommendedmaximumspeed limit for safety and lT'S THE LAW.
lf the above instructionshave been followed, instabilityshould now be
corrected.lf not, somethingmay be wrong with your tow vehicle.

TRAILER TACTIGS
Witha trailerin tow,you'reoperatinga vehiclecombination
thatis longer,
you're
heavierand sometimeswiderand taller,than
usedto. So you'll
have to make some compensating
in your normaldriving

practices.The followingis advicein traileringtactics:
Conservefuel. You'llgo fartheron a tankof gas at moderatespeeds.
Higherspeedsincreasewind resistanceagainstthe trailerand reduce
fuelmileage.
Avoid sudden stops and starts. This can causeskidding, sliding,or

evenif yourtrailerhas brakes.Avoidquickstopswhileturning. Smooth, gradualstartsand stopswill improveyourgas mileage.

Slow down. Moderateto slowerdrivingspeedsput less strainon your

Allow extratime and spacebetweenyour rig and traffic.Youwillneed

if yourtraileris notequipped

Check rear view mirrors. Doingthis frequentlywill let you knowthat
yourtraileris ridingproperly.We recommend

on bothsidesof yourtowvehicle.
Swingwider. Youneedto makewiderswings(turns)at curvesandcornersbecauseyourtrailer'swheelsare generallycloserto the insideof a
