Stack cylindrical loads closely together and flat. Place each row on boards and place chocks at each end of the row. Cylindrical objects may also be stacked in a pyramid. Place chocks against each roll in the bottom row. Stack palettes laden with boxes straight and square with respect to each other. Stack the top row offset in order to provide additional safety. Handling of individual suspended loads On forklifts that are equipped with an additional hook attachment attached to the fork arm (or with any other device that makes it possible for the loads to be suspended on a hook), there is a tendency for additional destabilizing forces to act on the forklift. In the case of forklifts that have been converted for such work, the following guidelines must be observed in order to improve the stability of the forklift. NOTICE A forklift that has been converted for the transportation of loads on a hook is a crane, and therefore the corresponding regulations for cranes are applicable. When handling suspended loads, the loaded maximum speed on flat ground must be limited to 10.5 mph / 17 km/h. The carrying capacity of the forklift is reduced if it has been converted for transportation of loads on a hook. The following instructions are visible on the nameplate mounted on the auxiliary device or cab. – Weight of the auxiliary device; – Critical point: 0506.USA – Rated carrying capacity. E 37
