B. USER DEFINED IRRIGATIONS
To model what actually takes place in a growing season it is necessary to enter specific
irrigation gifts on given dates. A wide range of options are available in the Scheduling Criteria,
but these may not describe what actually happened (e.g. a broken or damaged gate may
deliver more water than planned.)
The impact of non-standard irrigation schedules can be examined by setting the Schedule
Criteria to “User Defined” -i.e. scheduling with variable dates and amounts of irrigation. To
select User Defined irrigations, select Schedule, Criteria and set the Application Timing
to “Irrigate at Variable Intervals” and the Application depths to “Variable Depths” :
Setting Scheduling Criteria to “User Defined”
You can now enter the non-standard irrigations into the Irrigation Schedule Table. We
recommend that you display the Irrigation scheduling table with the Daily Soil Moisture
Balance option. Note that selecting User Defined irrigations will remove any existing
irrigations and the SMD graph will show calculated soil moisture deficit with rainfall only until
you add your own irrigation events.

User Defined irrigation events can be entered by double clicking on the appropriate date in
the “Net Irr” column (arrow).
