ActionLink Home Networking USB Cable Single-Room Starter Kit
Quick Start Guide
Note: Windows 95, Windows 95A, and Windows NT 4.0 do not support USB, and you will
be unable to set up the network on computers with these operating systems. To add
supplemental USB software to Windows 95B, double-click on "usbsupp.exe" in the
folder named "Usbsrsk", and follow the on-screen instructions.
Before installing:
IMPORTANT: Do not plug in the Actiontec USB cable SRSK to the USB ports of your
computers before beginning this installation. If you have already plugged in the
cable, unplug it and Click "Cancel" to stop the Windows auto installation process.
* Have your Windows 98 or Windows 95 installation CD ready.
* Note that you must install the Actiontec USB Cable SRSK software on each PC that
will be on the network.
To install the ActionLink Home Networking USB Cable Single-Room Starter Kit:
1. Extract the downloaded file to a convenient location on the computer hard drive.
2. Navigate to the folder created by the extraction of the driver download. Open the
folder "Usbsrsk" and double-click "Usbsrsk.exe" to begin the installation.
3. Follow the on screen instructions. When prompted, enter a unique "Computer Name"
that will identify the computer on the network. (The installation program may ask
you to inset the Windows 95 or Windows 98 CD for the network installation. In that
case, follow the on screen instructions.)
4. When installation is complete, restart your computer.
* Repeat steps 1 - 4 for the other computers that will be connected.
Note: You will be asked for the "Network User Name" and "Password" that you chose
during installation when Windows is restarted. Do NOT bypass this step.
5. When Windows has finished restarting, the Actiontec USB SRSK manager window will
appear with its Connections tab in front.
6. Plug the Actiontec USB Cable into the USB ports of each computer. The Actiontec
USB SRSK Manager Connections tab will change to show the computers on the network.
