ST AUDIO DSP2000 C-Port Q: Can I use Logic SoundTrack24 under Windows 2000/XP? A: You need at least version 4.8 of Logic SoundTrack24 (also called "Volume2") in order to use it under Windows 2000/XP. The older release v4.2 (sometimes called "Volume1") only supports Windows 9x/Me. Please contact ST Audio and/or your local distributor to get more information on this topic. Q: I am not able to change the MME / ASIO / GSIF settings for the multiclient driver in the Hardware Settings dialog. A: These settings are not available when the driver that is installed currently does not support multiclient operation for GigaSampler-/Studio. Check www.STAUDIO.com to get more information about this topic and updated drivers. Q: Why do I get error messages that the ASIO Multimedia test/configuration failed using Cubase VST, Cubasis VST or Nuendo from Steinberg? A: This test is done by the ASIO Multimedia driver from Steinberg that simulates ASIO for soundcards without ASIO support. It would disappear as soon as this driver is configured properly. However, as the DSP24 series of cards have their own ASIO driver for Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP, you don't need to run this test at all. Just select the ASIO driver (ASIO ADSP24) and then the ASIO Multimedia driver will no longer be used. Windows 2000 / XP system optimization This section deals with the most important issues related to the installation and configuration of Windows 2000 / XP. ACPI The Automatic Configuration Power Interface (ACPI) functionality of Windows 2000 / XP can be very critical on PCs dedicated to HD-recording. If ACPI is enabled, Windows 2000 / XP will use one IRQ (usually 9, sometimes 11) for all PCI and all onboard devices in your system. IRQ sharing generally is not a big problem for modern PCI devices. However, it always affects the performance. As we want that your DSP24 PCI card works with best possible performance, IRQ sharing should be avoided. In the case of ACPI, the IRQ sharing sometimes even causes bigger conflicts if one of the other devices in the system have problems with ACPI installations. One example: graphic cards with nVidia chipsets are known to cause system crashes or at least performance problems of the DSP24 card when they share their IRQ with our hardware.
