Floppy Disk Problems
If you have trouble with one of your diskettes, answer
the following questions to see if they apply to the
problem:
1. Is the diskette damaged? To find out, copy the
diskette and repeat the operation that caused the
problem using the copy you just made. (If you have
trouble copying the entire diskette, some of the
sectors may be bad. Try to copy one file at a time
with the Copy command.) If the operation works
using the copy diskette, the original diskette is
probably damaged. Make another copy to use as a
backup.
2.
Have you inserted the right type of diskette? Your
Apex uses 5 Winch, double-sided, double-density
48 TPI, soft-sectored diskettes.
3. Is the diskette write-protected? There may be a
write-protect tab over the notch on the side of the
diskette, which means that you can’t write data to
this diskette. Before you remove the tab, check the
diskette directory to determine what files it
contains. If it contains information you do not
want to change or lose, leave it write-protected.
Although you should normally write-protect all
program diskettes, some programs store temporary
files on the diskette and will not work if you writeprotect the diskette.
