• The focus may not be correctly adjusted if you are
using a conversion lens (optional) as it may block the
HOLOGRAM AF light.
• You cannot use HOLOGRAM AF together with:
– CAMERA-TAPE mode
(No flash)
– Flash set to
– [SUNSET&MOON] or [LANDSCAPE] of
[PROGRAM AE]
– Manual focus
– SPOT FOCUS function
– Burst
– NightShot function
• The focal distance information is not displayed on
the screen.
Recording
When you are recording in a dark place, you
can use the HOLOGRAM AF light to focus
on subjects until the focus is fixed. The
maximum focal distance for the
HOLOGRAM AF light is about 2.5 m (8
feet).
[HOLOGRAM AF] is set to [AUTO] by default
(p. 61).
About HOLOGRAM AF
“HOLOGRAM AF,” an application of laser
holograms, is a new auto-focus optical system
that enables still image shooting in dark places.
Having gentler radiation than conventional
high-brightness LEDs or lamps, the system
satisfies the Laser Class 1 (*) specification and
thus maintains higher safety for human eyes.
No safety problems will be caused by looking
directly into the HOLOGRAM AF emitter at a
close range. However, it is not recommended to
do so, because you may experience side effects,
such as several minutes of residual images or
dazzling, that you would encounter after
looking into a flashlight.
* HOLOGRAM AF satisfies the Class 1(time base
30000 seconds) specifications, recommended by all
of the JIS (Japan), IEC (EU), and FDA (US) industry
standards.
Complying with these standards certifies the laser
product to be safe, under conditions where a human
looks at the laser light either directly or through a
lens for 30000 seconds.
