Cleaning and care Extra cleaning Disconnect the machine from the mains electricity supply and withdraw the plug from the socket prior to cleaning the machine. Cleaning the machine ^ Clean the casing with a mild non-abrasive detergent or soap and water. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. ^ Clean the control panel with a damp cloth and wipe dry with a soft cloth. ^ The drum and any other stainless steel components can be cleaned using a suitable proprietary stainless-steel cleaning agent. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the packaging. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, disinfecting agents or solvents. These can cause considerable damage to the machine because of the chemicals they contain. Avoid contact of stainless steel surfaces (front, lid, casing) with liquid cleaning and disinfecting agents which contain chlorine or sodium hypochlorite. These agents can have a corrosive effect on stainless steel. Aggressive vapours containing chlorine bleach can also be corrosive. Do not store open containers of these agents near the machine. 26 If you wash mainly with low temperatures it is a good idea to carry out a hot wash approx. every six weeks. This will help prevent deposits and unpleasant smells building up in the machine which can occur when washing is mainly done at low temperatures. If you have no reason to wash occasionally at this high temperature, then run a Cottons 95ºC programme with detergent but no laundry at regular intervals.
