FOR TWO YEARS from the date of purchase, all non-expendable parts of this riding equipment are
warranted against any defects in material or workmanship. A defective non-expendable part will
receive free in-home repair or replacement if repair is impossible.
FOR FIVE YEARS from the date of purchase, the frame and front axle of this riding equipment are
warranted against any defects in material or workmanship. A defective frame or front axle will receive
free in-home repair or replacement if repair is impossible.
FOR 90 DAYS from the date of purchase, the battery (an expendable part) of this riding equipment
is warranted against any defects in material or workmanship (ourtesting proves that it will not hold a
charge). A defective battery will receive free in-home replacement.

This warranty covers ON!2{ defects in material and workmanship. Warranty coverage does NOT
include:
• Expendable parts (except battery) that can wear out from normal use within the warranty period,
including but not limited to blades, spark plugs, air cleaners, belts, and oil filters.
° Standard maintenance servicing, oil changes, or tune-ups.
• Tire replacement or repair caused by punctures from outside objects, such as nails, thorns,
stumps, or glass.
• Tire or wheel replacement or repair resulting from normal wear, accident, or improper operation or
maintenance.
• Repairs necessary because of operator abuse, including but not limited to damage caused by
towing objects beyond the capability of the riding equipment, impacting objects that bend the
frame, axle assembly or crankshaft, or over-speeding the engine.
• Repairs necessary because of operator negligence, including but not limited to, electrical and
mechanical damage caused by improper storage, failure to use the proper grade and amount
of engine oil, failure to keep the deck clear of flammable debris, or failure to maintain the riding
equipment according to the instructions contained in the operator's manual.
• Engine (fuel system) cleaning or repairs caused by fuel determined to be contaminated or oxidized
(stale). tn general, fuel should be used within 30 days of its purchase date.
• Normal deterioration and wear of the exterior finishes, or product label replacement.
This warrantygives you specificlegal rights, and you may also have other rightswhich vary from
stateto state.

_(_DANGER: This cutting machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and
throwing objects, Failure to observe the following safety instructions could result
in serious injury or death.
_WARNING:
In orderto preventaccidental starting when setting up, transporting,
adjusting or making repairs, always disconnect spark plug wire and place wire where
it cannot contact spark plug.
Never direct discharged material toward
anyone, Avoid discharging material
against a wall or obstruction. Material
may ricochet back toward the operator.
Stop the blades when crossing gravel
surfaces.
Do not operate machine without the entire grass catcher, discharge chute, or
other safety devices in place andworking.
Slow down before turning.
Never leave a running machine unattended. Always turn off blades, set
parking brake, stop engine, and remove
keys before dismounting.
Disengage blades when not mowing.
Shut off engine and wait for all parts to
come to a complete stop before cleaning
the machine, removing the grass catcher,
or unclogging the discharge chute.
Operate machine only indaylight or good
artificial light.
Do not operate the machine while under
the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Watch for traffic when operating near or
crossing roadways.
Use extra care when loading or unloading
the machine into a trailer or truck.
Always wear eye protection when operating machine.
Data indicates that operators, age 60
years and above, are involved in a large
percentage of riding mower-related injuries. These operators should evaluate
their ability to operate the riding mower
safely enough to protect themselves and
others from serious injury.
Followthe manufacturer's recommendation for wheelweights or counterweights.
Keep machine free of grass, leaves or
other debris build-up which can touch hot
exhaust/engine parts and burn. Do not
allow the mower to plow leaves or other
debris which can cause build-up to occur. Clean any oil or fuel spillage before
operating or storing the machine. Allow
machine to cool before storage.
_i_JlLWARNING:Do not coast down a hilt in
neutral, you may lose control of the tractor.
,_WARNING:
Tow only the attachments
that are recommended by and compty with
specifications of the manufacturer of your
tractor. Use common sense when towing.
Operate only at the lowest possible speed
when on a slope. Too heavy of a load,while
on a slope, is dangerous. Tires can lose
traction with the ground and cause you to
lose control of your tractor.

!. GENERAL OPERATION
. Read, understand, andfollowallinstructions on the machine and in the manual
before starting.
• Do not put hands or feet near rotating
parts or under the machine. Keep clear
of the discharge opening at all times.
• Only allow responsible adults, who are
familiar with the instructions, to operate
the machine.
• Clear the area of objects such as rocks,
toys, wire, etc., which could be picked
up and thrown by the blades.
• Be sure the area is clear of bystanders
beforeoperating. Stopmachine ifanyone
enters the area.
• Never carry passengers.
• Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely
necessary. Always lookdown and behind
before and while backing.

!1,SLOPE OPERATION
Slopes are a major factor related to loss of
control and tip-over accidents, which can
result in severe injury or death. Operation
on all slopes requires extra caution, if you
cannot back up the slope or ifyoufeel uneasy
on it, do not mow it.
• Mow up and down slopes, not across.
• Watch for holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or
other hidden objects. Uneven terrain
could overturn the machine. Tall grass
can hide obstacles.
• Choose a low ground speed so that you
will not have to stop or shift while on the
slope.
• Do not mow on wetgrass. Tires maylose
traction.
Always keep the machine in gear when
going down slopes. Do not shift to neutral
and coast downhill.
• Avoid starting, stopping, or turning on a
slope. Ifthetireslosetraction, disengage
the blades and proceed slowly straight
down the slope.
• Keep all movement on the slopes slow
and gradual.
Do not make sudden
changes in speed or direction, which
could cause the machine to roll over,
• Use extra care while operating machine
with grass catchers or other attachments;
they can affect the stabilityof the machine. Do no use on steep slopes.
• Do not try to stabilize the machine by
putting your foot on the ground.
• Do not mow near drop-offs, ditches,
or embankments. The machine could
suddenly roll over if a wheel is over the
edge or if the edge caves in.
•
Keep children out of the mowing area
and in the watchful care of a responsible
adult other than the operator.
• Be alert and turn machine off if a child
enters the area.
° Before and while backing, look behind
and down for small children,
° Nevercarrychildren, evenwiththeblades
shutoff. They may fall off and be seriously
injured or interfere with safe machine
operation. Children who have been given
rides in the past may suddenly appear in
the mowing area for another ride and be
run over or backed over by the machine.
, Never at]ow children to operate the machine.
• Use extra care when approaching blind
corners, shrubs, trees, or other objects
that may block your view of a child.
IV. TOWING
- Tow only with a machine that has a hitch
designed for towing. Do not attach towed
equipment except at the hitch point,
• Followthe manufacturer's recommendation for weight limitsfor towed equipment
and towing on slopes.
• Never allow children or others in or on
towed equipment,
• On slopes, theweight ofthetowed equipment may cause loss of traction and loss
of control.
• Travel slowly and allow extra distance to
stop.
V. SERVICE
SAFE HANDLING OF GASOLINE
To avoid personal injury or property damage, use extreme care in handling gasoline,
Gasoline is extremely flammable and the
vapors are explosive.
• Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes,
and other sources of ignition.
• Use only approved gasoline container,
• Never remove gas cap or add fuel with
the engine running. Allow engine to coo]
before refueling.
• Never fuelthe machine indoors.
, Neverstore the machine or fuel container
where there is an open flame, spark, or
pilot light such as on a water heater or
other appliances.
° Never fill containers inside a vehicle or
on a truck or trailer bed with plastic liner.
Always place containers on the ground
away from your vehicle when filling.
III. CHILDREN
,_kWARNING: CHILDREN CAN BE INJURED
BY THISEQUIPMENT.The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children
be a minimum of 12 year of age before operating a pedestrian controlled lawn mower
and a minimum of 16 years of age before
operating a riding lawn mower.
Tragic accidents can occur if the operator
is not alert to the presence of children.
Children are often attracted to the machine
and the mowing activity. Never assume
that children will remain where you last
saw them.

UNPACK CARTON
• Remove all accessible loose parts and
parts cartons from carton.
• Cut along dotted lines on all four panels
of carton. Remove end panels and lay
side panels flat.
• Check for any additional loose parts or
cartons and remove.

CHECK TIRE PRESSURE
The tires on your tractor were overinflated at
the factory for shipping purposes. Correct
tire pressure _s important for best cutting
performance.

CHECK DECK LEVELNESS
For best cutting results, mower housing
should be properly leveled. See "TO LEVEL
MOWER in the Service and Adjustments
section of this manual.
CHECK FOR PROPER POSITION OF
ALL BELTS
See the figures that are shown for replacing
motion and mower blade drive belts in the
Service and Adjustments section of this manual. Verify thatthe belts are routedcorrectly.
CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM
After you ]earn how to operate your tractor,
check to see that the brake is operating
properly. See "TO CHECK BRAKE" in the
Service and Adjustments section of this
manual.
v_ Seat is adjusted comfortably and tightened securely.
t/" All tires are properly inflated. (For shipping purposes, the tires were overinflated

t/" Be sure mower deck is properly leveled
side-to-sideifront-to-rear for best cutting

Our tractors conform to the applicable safety standards of the
American National Standards Institute,
(A) ATTACHMENT LIFT LEVER - Used to
raise and lower the mower or other attachments mounted to your tractor,
(B) CLUTCH!BRAKE PEDAL - Used for
declutching and braking the tractor and
starting the engine.
(C) PARKING BRAKE- Locks clutch/brake
pedal into the brake position.
(D) THROTTLE/CHOKE CONTROL- Used
for starting and controlling engine speed,
(E) ATTACHMENTCLUTCH LEVER- Used
to engagethe mower blades, or other attachments mounted to your tractor.
(F) IGNITION SWITCH - Used for starting
and stopping the engine.
(G) REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM
(ROe) "ON" POSITION - Allows operation
of mower or other powered attachment while
in reverse.
(H) LIGHT SWITCH - Turns the headlights
on and off.
(J) MOTION CONTROL LEVER - Selects
the speed and direction of tractor.
(M) FREEWHEEL CONTROL- Disengages
transmission for pushing or slowlytowing the
tractor with the engine off.

The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into
the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage.
Always wear safety
glasses or eye shields while operating your tractor or performing any
adjustments
or repairs. We recommend standard safety glasses or a
wide vision safety mask worn over spectacles.

NOTE: Under certain conditions when tractor

always stop engine when stopping tractor
on grass areas.
CAUTION: Always stop tractor completely, as described above, before leaving
the operator's position.
HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTOR
TO SET PARKING BRAKE
Your tractor is equipped with an operator
presence sensing switch. When engine is
running, any attempt by the operatorto leave
the seat without first setting the parking brake
will shut offthe engine.
1. Depress clutch/brake pedal (B) all the
way down and hold.
2. Pull parking brake lever (C) up and hold,
release pressure from clutch!brake pedal
(B),then release parking brakelever. Pedalshould remain inbrake position, Ensure
parking brake will hold tractor secure.
TO USE THROTTLE CONTROL (D)
Always operate engine at full speed (fast).
• Operating engine at less than full speed
(fast) reducesengine's operating efficiency.
• Full speed (fast) offers the best mower
performance.

TO OPERATE MOWER
Your tractor is equipped with an operator
presence sensing switch. Any attempt
by the operator to leave the seat with the
engine running and the attachment clutch
engaged will shut off the engine. You must
remain fully and centrally positioned in the
seat to prevent the engine from hesitating or
cutting off when operating your equipment
on rough, rolling terrain or hills.
1, Select desired height of cut with attachment lift lever.
2. Start mower blades by engaging attachment clutch control.
• Put attachment lift lever in desired cutting
height slot.
The cuttirlg height range is approximately 1
to 4" (25,4 to 101,6 mm). The heights are
measured from the ground to the blade tip
with the engine not running, These heights
are approximate and may vary depending
upon soil conditions, height of grass and
types of grass being mowed.
- The average lawn should be cutto approximately 2-1/2" (63,5 ram) during the cool
season and to over 3" (76,2 ram) during
hot months. For healthier and better looking lawns, mow often and after moderate
growth.
• For best cutting performance, grass over
6" (152,4 mm) in height should be mowed
twice. Make the first cut relatively high; the
second to desired height,

REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)
Your tractor is equipped with a Reverse
Operation System (ROS). Any attempt by
the operator to travel inthe reverse direction
with the attachment clutch engaged wilt shut
off the engine unless ignition key is placed
in the ROS "ON" position.
_WARNING:
Backing up with the attachment clutch engaged while mowing is
strongly discouraged.'fijrningthe ROS "ON",
to allow reverse operation with the attachment clutch engaged, should only be done
when the operator decides it is necessary to
reposition the machine with the attachment

TOWING CARTS AND OTHER ATTACHMENTS
Tow only the attachments that are recommended by and comply with specifications
of the manufacturer of your tractor. Use
commonsense when towing. Too heavy of
a load, while on a slope, is dangerous. Tires
can lose traction with the ground and cause
you to lose control of your tractor.

while in storage. Toavoid engine problems,
the fuel system should be emptied before
storage of 30 days or longer. Drain the gas
tank, start the engine and let it run until the
fuel lines and carburetor are empty, Use
fresh fuel nextseason. SeeStorage Instructions for additional information. Never use
engine or carburetor cleaner products inthe
fuel tank or permanent damage may occur.
Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable alternative in
minimizing theformation offuel gum deposits
during storage, Add stabilizer to gasoline in
fuel tank or storage container. Always follow
the mix ratio found on stabilizer container.
Run engine at least 10 minutes after adding
stabilizer to allow the stabilizer to reach the
carburetor. Do not empty the gas tank and
carburetor if using fuel stabilizer.
TO START ENGINE

• The left hand side of mower should be
used for trimming.
• Drive so that clippings are discharged onto
the areathat has already been cut. Have
the cut areatothe right ofthetractor. This
will result in a more even distribution of
clippings and more uniform cutting.
• When mowing large areas, start byturning
to the right so that clippings will discharge
away from shrubs, fences, driveways,
etc. After one or two rounds, mow in the
opposite direction making left hand turns
until finished.
_.kCAUTION:
Never engage or disengage
freewheel lever while the engine is running.
TOensure proper operation and performance,
it is recommended
that the transmission
be
purged before operating tractor for the first
time. This procedure will remove anytrapped
air inside the transmission which may have
developed during shipping of your tractor.
'IMPORTANT:
Should your transmission
require removal for service or replacement,
it should be purged after reinstallation before
operating the tractor.

Place tractor safely on a level surface that is clear of objects and open - with
engine off and parking brake set.

mowed twice to reduce loadand possible
fire hazard from dried clippings. Make
first cut relatively high; the second to the

o Do not mow grass when it is wet. Wet
grass will plug mower and leave undesirable clumps. Allow grass to dry before
mowing.
• Always operate engine at full throttle
when mowing to assure better mowing performance and proper discharge
of material. Regulate ground speed by
selecting a low enough gear to give the
mower cuttingperformanceas well as the
quality of cut desired.
• When operating attachments, select a
ground speed that will suit the terrain and
give best performance of the attachment
being used.
7. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine.
After the engine is running, movethrottle
control to half (1/2) speed. With motion
control lever in neutral position, slowly
disengage clutch!brake pedal.
8. Slowly move motion control lever forward,
after the tractor moves approximately
five (5) feet (1,5 m), slowly move motion
control lever to reverse position. After
the tractor moves approximately
five
(5) feet (1,5 m) return the motion control
lever to the neutral position. Repeat this
procedure with the motion control lever
three (3) times.
Your transmission
is now purged and now

must be kept free of dirt and chaff to prevent

Inspect and replace corroded muffler and
spark arrestor (if equipped) as it could create

Except for the washout port (if equipped),
we do not recommend using a garden hose
or pressure washer to clean the outside of
your tractor unless the engine and transmission are covered to keep water out. Water
in engine or transmission will shorten the
useful life of your tractor. Use compressed
air or a leaf blower to remove grass, leaves
and trash from outside tractor and mower.
DECK WASHOUT PORT
Your tractor's deck is equipped with a washout port as part of its deck wash system. It
should be utilized after each use.
1. Drive the tractor to a level, clear spot
on your lawn, near enough to a water
spigot for your garden hose to reach.
IMPORTANT: Make certain the tractor's
discharge chute is directed AWAY from your
house, garage, parked cars, etc. Remove
bagger chute or mulch cover ff attached.
2. Make surefhe attachment clutch control
is in the "DISENGAGED" position, set
the parking brake, and stop the engine.
3. Thread the nozzle adapter (packaged
with your tractor's Operator's Manual)
onto the end of your garden hose.
4. Pull back the lock collar of the nozzle
adapter and push the adapter onto the
deckwashout port at the left end of the
mower deck. Release the lock collar to
lock the adapter on the nozzle.

IMPORTANT: Tug hose ensuring connection is secure.
5, Turn the water on.
6. While sitting in the operator's position
on the tractor, re-start the engine and
place the throttle lever in the Fast "_"
position,
IMPORTANT: Recheck the area to ensure
the area is clear. Ensure no children are in
the area while cleaning the deck.
7. Move the tractor's attachment clutch
control to the "ENGAGED" position.
Remain in the operator's position
with the cutting deck engaged until the
deck is cleaned.
8. Move the tractor's attachment clutch
control to the "DISENGAGED" position. Turn the ignition key to the STOP
position to turn the tractor's engine off.
Turn the water off.
9. Pull back the lock collar of the nozzle
adapter to disconnect the adapter from
the nozzle washout port.
10. Move the tractor to a dry area, preferably a concrete or paved area. Place
the attachment clutch control in the
"ENGAGED" position to remove excess
water and to help dry before putting the
tractor away.
_WARNING: A brokenor missing washout

• Replacebrokenor missingwashoutfitting

• Plug any holes in mower with bolts and

1. Depress clutch/brake pedal fully and set parking brake.
2. Place motion control [ever in neutral position.
3. Place attachment clutch in "DISENGAGED" position.
4. Turn ignitionkey to "STOP" and remove key.
5, Ensure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped.
6, Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot
come in contact with plug.
TO REMOVE MOWER
I. Place attachment clutch in "DISENGAGED" position.
2. Lower attachment lift lever to its lowest
position.
3. Roll belt off engine pulley (M) and belt
keepers (G).
4. Remove retainer spring (K). slide collar
(L) off and push housing guide (P) out
of bracket.
5. Remove clutch cable spring (Q) from
idler arm (R).
6. Disconnect front link (E) from mower remove retainer spring and washer.
7. Go to either side of mower and disconnect mower suspension arm (A) from
chassis pin (B) and rear lift link (C) from
rear mower bracket (D) - remove retainer
springsand washers.
CAUTION: After rear lift links are disconnected, the attachment lift leverwill be spring
loaded. Have a tight grip on lift lever when
changing position of the lever.
8. Slide mower out from under right side of
tractor.
IMPORTANT: If an attachment other than
the mower is to be mounted on the tractor,
remove the front link (E) and rear lift links
(C) from tractor and hook the clutch spring
(Q) into the cable guide on front edge of
lower dash.
TO INSTALL MOWER
Ensuretractor is on level surface and engage
parking brake.
1. Lower attachment lift lever to its lowest
position.
CAUTION: Lift lever is spring loaded.
Have a tight grip on lift lever, lower it slowly
and engage in lowest position.
NOTE: Ensure mower side suspension arms
(A) are pointing forward before sliding mower
under tractor.
2. Slide mower under tractor until it is centered under tractor.

FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT
IMPORTANT: Deck must be level sideto-side.
To obtain the best cutting results, the mower
blades should be adjusted so the front tip
is 1/8 to 1/2" (3,1 to 12,7 mm) (lower than
the rear tip when the mower is in its highest
position.
_CAUTION:
Blades are sharp. Protect
your hands with gloves and/or wrap blade
with heavy cloth.
- Raise mower to highest position.
- Position any blade so the tip is pointing
straight forward. Measure distance "B" to
the ground at front and rear tip of blade.
TO LEVEL MOWER
Ensure tires are properly inflated to the PSI
shown on tires. If tires are over or under
inflated, it may affect the appearance of your
lawn and lead you to think the mower is not
adjusted properly.
VISUAL SIDE-TO-SIDE ADJUSTMENT
1. With all tires property inflated and ifyour
lawn appears unevenly cut, determine
which side of mower is cutting lower.
2. With a 3/4" or adjustable wrench, turn
lift link adjustment nut (A) to the left to
lower LH side of mower, or, to the right
to raise LH side of mower.

loosen jam nut "A" several turns to clear

. With a 3/4" or adjustable wrench, turn

the front mower.
3. Test your adjustment
by mowing some
uncut grass and visually checking the
appearance. Readjust, if necessary, until

PRECISION SIDE-TO-SIDE ADJUSTMENT

The mower blade drive belt may be replaced
without tools. Park the tractor on level surface. Engage parking brake,

NOTE: Observe entire motion drive belt
and position of all belt guides and keepers.

TO CHECK BRAKE
If tractorrequires more than five (5) feet (1,5
m) to stop at highest speed inhighest gear
on a level, dry concrete or paved surface.
then brake must be serviced.
You may also check brake by:
1. Park tractor on a level, dry concrete or
paved surface, depress brake pedal all
the way down and engage parking brake.
2. Disengage transmission
by placing
freewheel control in "transmission disengaged" position. Pullfreewheel control
out and intothe slot and release so it is
held in the disengaged position.
The rear wheels must lock and skid when
you try to manually push the tractor forward.
If the rear wheels rotate, then the brake
needs to be serviced. Contact a Sears or
other qualified service center,
NOTE: If additional clearance is needed to
get to adjustment bolt, move mower deck
height to the lowest position.
After above adjustment is made, if the tractor still creeps forward or backward while
motion control lever is in neutral position,
follow these steps:
1. Loosen the adjustment bolt,
2. Movethe motion control lever 1/4 to 1/2
inch in the direction it is trying to creep,
3. Tighten adjustment bolt securely,
4. Start engine and test,
5. If tractor still creeps, repeat above steps
until satisfied.
TO REMOVE WHEEL FOR REPAIRS
1. Block up axle securely.
2. Remove axle cover, retaining ring and
washers to allow wheel removal (rear
wheels have a square key- Do not lose).
3. Repair tire and reassemble.
NOTE" On rear wheels only: align grooves in
rear wheel hub and axle.. Insert square key.
4. Replace washers and snap retaining ring
securely in axle groove,
5. Replace axle cover.
NOTE: To seal tire punctures and prevent
flat tires due to slow leaks, purchase and
use tire sealantfrom Sears. Tire sealant also
prevents tire dry rot and corrosion.

TO START ENGINE WITH WEAK BATTERY
,_ILWARNING: Lead-acid batteries generate explosive gases. Keep sparks, flame
and smoking materials away from batteries.
Always wear eye protection when around
batteries.
If your battery is too weak to start the engine, it
should be recharged. (See "BATTERY" inthe
MAINTENANCE section of this manual).
If "jumper cables" are used for emergency
starting, follow this procedure:
IMPORTANT: Your tractor is equipped with
a 12volt system. The other vehicle must also
be a 12 volt system. Do not use your tractor
battery to start other vehicles.
TO ATTACH JUMPER CABLES 1. Connect one end ofthe RED cable tothe
POSITIVE (+) terminal of each battery(AB),taking care notto short against tractor
chassis.
2. Connect one end of the BLACK cable
to the NEGATIVE (-) terminal (C) of fully
charged battery.
3. Connect the other end of the BLACK
cab]e (D) to good chassis ground, away
from fuel tank and battery.
TO REMOVE CABLES, REVERSE ORDER1. BLACK cable first from chassis and then
from the fully charged battery.
2. RED cable last from both batteries.

right rear wheel, and lightly tighten.

lever until tractor does not move forward

Immediately prepare your tractor for storage
at the end of the season or if the tractor will
not be used for 30 days or more.
,I_WARNING:
Neverstore thetractorwith
gasoline in the tank inside a building where
fumes may reach an open flame or spark.
Allow the engine to cool before storing in
any enclosure.
TRACTOR
Remove mower from tractor for winter storage. When mower is to be stored for a period
of time, clean it thoroughly, remove all dirt,
grease, leaves, etc. Store ina clean, dry area.
1. Clean entire tractor (See "CLEANING" in
the Maintenance section of this manual),
2. Inspect and replace belts, if necessary
(See belt replacement instructions in the
Service and Adjustments section of this
manual).
3. Lubricate as shown in the Maintenance
section of this manual.
4. Ensure that all nuts, bolts and screws
are securely fastened, inspect moving
parts for damage, breakage and wear.
Replace if necessary,
5. Touch up all rusted or chipped paint
surfaces; sand lightly before painting.
BATTERY
• Fully charge the battery for storage.
• After a period of time in storage, battery
may require recharging.
• To help prevent corrosion and power
leakage during long periods of storage,
battery cables should be disconnected
and battery cleaned thoroughly (see "TO
CLEAN BATTERY AND TERMINALS" in
the Maintenance section of this manual).
- After cleaning, leave cables disconnected
and place cables where they can not come
in contact with battery terminals.
• If battery is removed from tractor for
storage, do not store battery directly on
concrete or damp surfaces.
• If unit is equipped with battery indicator/
charging plug, an optional charging unit
may be purchased and connected to the
unit to charge the battery during long term
storage. Inspect and dean the battery
terminals as needed prior to long term
storage with charger connected.

ENGINE
FUEL SYSTEM
IMPORTANT: It is important to prevent
gum deposits from forming in essential fuel
system parts such as carburetor, fuel hose,
or tank during storage. Also, alcohol blended
fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or
methanol) can attract moisture which leads
to separation and formation of acids during
storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuel
system of an engine while in storage.
o Emptythe fuel tank by starting the engine
and letting it run until the fuel lines and
carburetor are empty,
• Never use engine or carburetor cleaner
products in the fuel tank or permanent
damage may occur.
• Use fresh fuel next season.
NOTE: Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable alternative in minimizing the formation of fuel
gum deposits during storage. Add stabilizer
to gasoline infuel tank or storage container.
Always followthe mix ratio found on stabilizer
container. Run engine at least 10 minutes
after adding stabilizerto allowthe stabilizer to
reach the carburetor. Do not empty the gas
tank and carburetor if using fuel stabilizer.
ENGINE OIL
Drain oil (with engine warm) and replace
with clean engine oil. (See "ENGINE" in the
Maintenance section of this manual).
CYLINDER(S)
I. Remove spark plug(s).
2. Pour one ounce (29.5 mL) of oil through
spark plug hole(s) into cylinder(s).
3. Turn ignition key to "START" position for
a few seconds to distribute oil.
4. Replace with new spark p[ug(s).
OTHER
° Do notstoregasoline from oneseason to
another.
• Replaceyour gasoline can ifyour can starts
to rust. Rust and/or dirt in your gasoline
will cause prob[ems.
• If possible, store your tractor indoors and
cover itto give protection from dust and dirt.
• Cover your tractor with a suitable protective cover that does not retain moisture.
Do not use plastic. Plastic cannot breathe
which allows condensation to form and will
cause your tractor to rust.

engine and exhaust areas are still warm.

COMO
USAR SU TRACTOR
MOTOR • Mover la palanca (D) de mando entre la
posici6n de velocidad media y m_ima (rApida).
AVISO:Si no se mueve la palanca de mando
entre la posici6n de velocidad media y m_lxima
(rApida), antes de pararse, se puede causar un
"retorno de llama" det motor.
PARA AJUSTAR EL FRENO DE ESTACIONAMIENTO
Su tractor viene equipado con un interruptorsensor que exige la presencia del operador. Cuando
el motor est& funcionando, si el cperador trata de
bajarse del asiento sin pdmero aplicar etfreno de
estacionamiento, se apagarA el motor.
1. Presione el pedat (D) del freno/embrague
completamente y sostengalo.
2. Jale hacia ardba la patanca del freno de
mano (H) y mant6ngala en esa posici6n;
suelte gradualmente el pedal del embrague/
freno (D), y luego suelte la patanca deI freno
de mano. Et pedal tiene que quedar en la
posici6n de freno. Asegerese que el freno
de estacionamiento va a sujetar el tractor en
forma segura.
• Gire la Ilave de ignicidn (F) a la posici6n de
apagado "STOP" y remueva la llave al abandonar el tractor para evitar el uso no autorizado.
IMPORTANTE: Dejando el interruptor de la
ignici6n en cualquier posici6n otra que "STOP"
causar i que la bateria se descargue (muerta).
AMISO: Bajo ciertas condiciones, cuando el
tractor estA parado con el motor andando en
vacio, los gases de escape deI motor caliente
pueden hacer que el c_sped se ponga "caf_."
Para eliminar esta posibilidad, siempre pare el
motor cuando pare eltractor en Areas con c_sped.

Siempre pare el tractor completamente, segSn se ha descrito anteriormente,
antes de abandonar la posicidn del operador.
PARA USAR EL CONTROL DE LA ACELERACI6N (D)
Siempre opere el motor a una aceleraci6n
completa.
• Si el motor flJnciona a una velocidad inferior a la
maxima (rApida), su rendimiento disminuye.
• El rendimiento 6ptimo se obtiene a laveIocidad

2. Con ta segadora a la altura deseada para la
posici6n de corte, se tienen que montar Ias
ruedas calibradoras de modo que queden
un poco sobre el suelo, lnstale las ruedas
calibradoras en el agujero adecuado con el
perno con resalto, la arandela de 8/8, y la
tuerca de seguridad de 3/8-16 y apri6telos
en forma segura.
3. RepJta el procedimiento para el lado opuesto
instalando la rueda calibradora en el mismo
agujero de ajuste.
Haga arrancar el motor con la palanca de controt de movimiento en la posici6n de neutro.
Suelte eJfreno de estacionamiento.
Lentamente, mueva la palanca de control de
movimiento a la posici6n deseada.
PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE DE
LA SEGADORA
La posicibn de la palanca elevadora (A) determina
a qu_ altura se cortar,_ el c_sped.
- Coloque la palanca elevadora en la ranura de
|a altura deseada.
La gama de Ia altura de corte es de aproximadao
menlo 25,4 to 10_,6 rnm (1 a 4 pufgadas). Las
alturas se miden desde el sueto a la punta de ta
cuchilla cuando el motor no est& funcionando.
Estas atturas son aproximadas y pueden variar
dependiendo de las condiciones del suelo, de Ia
altura del c_sped y del tipo deI c_sped que se
est& segando.
• El c_sped promedio debe cortarse aproximadamente a 63,5 mm (2-1/2 pulgadas)
durante la temporada fria y sobre 76,2 mm
(3 pulgadas) durante los meses calurosos.
Para obtener un c_sped m&s saludable y de
mejor aparienoia, siegue a menudo y despu_s
de un crecimiento moderado.
PARA OPERAR LA SEGADORA
Su tractor viene equipada con un interruptor
sensor que exige la presencia dot operador. Si
el motor est& funcionando y el embrague del accesorio est,. enganchado y el operador trata de
baJarse del asiento, se apagar& el motor. Tiene
que mantenerse sentado completa y centralmente
en el asiento para impedir que el motor vacile o
se apague cuando se opere su equipo en terreno
disparejo, &spero o en cerros.
_. Seleccione la altura de corte deseada.
2. Baje la segadora con el control de Ievantamiento del accesorio.
3. Haga arrancar tas cuchittas de ta segadora
enganchando el control del embrague del
accesorio.
PAPA PARAR LAS CUCHILLAS DE LA
SEGADORA
Desenganche el control del embrague del accesorio,
• Para obtener el mejor rendimiento de core, el
c_sped que tiene m&s de 6 pulgadas de altura
debe segarse dos veces. Haga elprimer corte relat_vamentealto; el segundo a la altura deseada.
PARA AJUSTAR LAS RUEDAS CALIBRA.

calibradoras mantienen el conjunto segador en

operador de viajar rnarcha atrz_scon el embrague
puesto apagar& el motor a menos que Ia Havede
ignioi6nse ponga en Ia posici6nde "ON" del ROS.
ATENCION" lr rnarcha atrEs con el embrague
puesto para cortar, no es recomendab]e. Poniendo el ROSen posici6n "ON", para permitir el
funcionamiento atr&s con el embrague puesto, se
tiene que hacer s61o cuando el operador Ioconsidera necesario para reposicionar la m&quina con
el dispositivo ernbragado. No siegue en revue a
menos que sea absolutamente necesario.
USAR EL SISTEMA DE FUNCIONAM[ENTO
ATR,_,SUtilice el tractor solamente si est& seguro de que
no ingresar&n ni_os ni otras personas o anirnales
al &tea donde se va a cortar el c6sped.
1. Mover la palanca de rnando del rnovimiento
en la posici6n neutro.
2. Con el motor en marcha, girar la Ilave del interruptor de la ignici6n en el sentido inverso al
de las agujas deI reloj hasta ta posici6n "ON".
3. Mire hac a abajo y hac a atr__sno s61o antes
de ir marcha atr&s, sino mientras est_ yendo
rnarcha atr&s.
4. Mover despacio la palanca de mando del
movirniento hacia la posici6n atr_.s (R) para
ernpezar el movimiento.
5. Cuando el uso det ROSes m&s necesario, d6
vuelta a ta Itave de ignici6n en e] sentido de
las agujas del reloj hasta la posici6n "ON".

la posici6n de neutro.
IMPORTANTE: La palanca de control de movimiento no vueive a [a posici6nde neutro cuando
et pedal de! ernbrague!freno esta presionado.
• Para volver a empezar con el movimiento,
sueite lentamente, el freno de estacionamiento
y el pedal del embragueifreno.
- Lentamente, rnueva la palanca de control de
movimiento al ajuste m&s lento.
• Gire siempre lentamente.

PARA TRANSPORTAR
Cuando empuje o arrastre su tractor aseg0rese de
desenganchar la transrnisi6n poniendoel control
de Ia rueda libre en Ia posici6n de marcha de rueda Iibre. El control de marcha de rueda Iibre esta
situado en Ia barm de tracci6n trasera del tractor.
1. Levante la palanca de Ievantamiento del accesorio a su posici6n rn__salta.
2. Tire de] mando de la rueda fibre hacia afuera
y hacia abajo hasta que se co]oque en la guia
y su_lta[o de manera que se mantenga en Ia
posici6n de desenganchada.
• No empuje o arrastre el tractor a m&s de 3,2
kmih (2 mph).
• Para volver a accionar la transmisi6n, invierta
este procedimiento.

REVISE EL NIVEL DE ACEITE DEL MOTOR
El motor de su tractor se envia de f_brica ya Ileno
con aceite de peso para verano.
1.
Revise el aceite del motor con el tractor en
terreno nivelado.
2. Remueva Iatapa/varilla indicadora de nivelde
relleno del aceite y limpielas, vuelva a insertar
la varilla indicadora de niveI y atorniI]e la tapa
hasta que quede apretada, espere por unos
cuantos segundos, remu6va[a y tea el niveI
del aceite. Si es necesario, agregue aceite
hasta que se haya alcanzado la marca Ileno
(FULL) en ta varitla indicadora de niveL No
Io [Iene demasiado.

el aceite para poder arrancar m&s f&ciImente

de Mantenimento en este manual.
AGREGUE GASOLINA
• Uene el tanque de combustible hasta la parte
inferior del cuellode relIeno. No Io Llenede m_.s.
Use gasofina normal nueva y timpia con un
minimo de 87 octanos. No mezcle aceite con
gasolina. Compre combustible en cantidades
que se puedan usar en 30 dias para asegurar
la frescura deI combustible.
_I_PRECAUCION:
Umpie ef aceite o el combustible derramado. No almacene, derrame o use
gasotina cerca de una llama expuesta.
IMPORTANTE: Cuando se opere en temperaturas pot debajo de 32°F (0°C) use gasolina de
invierno Iimpia y nueva para auedar a asegurar
un buen arranque en ctima frio.
PREOAUCION: Los combustibles mezclados con
alcohol (tlamados gasohol o que usan etanol o
metanol) pueden atraer la humedad, Io que provoca la separaciOn y formaci6n de &cities durante
el almacenarniento. El gas &cido puede dafiar el
sistema de combustible de un motor mientras se
encuentra en almacenamiento. Para evitar problemas con el motor, el sistema de combustible se
debe vaciar antes deI almacenamiento durante
30 dias o re&s. Drone el tanque de gasolina, arranque el motor y h&ga[o funcionar hasta que las
tuberias de combustible y de[ carburador est_n
vacias Use combustible nuevo en ta tamporada
siguiente. Consutte las tnstrucciones de Aimacenamiento para obtener informaci6n adicionaL
Nunca use productos limpiadores para motor o
carburador en el tanque de combustible porque
puede provocarda_os irreparables. Et estabilizadot de combustible es una alternativa aceptable
para minimizar Ia formaci6n de dep6sitos de
goma de combustible durante et almacenamiento.
Agregue estabilizador a la gasolina en el tanque
de combustible o recipiente de almacenamiento.
Siga siempre la proporciSn de mezcla que se
encuentra en el recipiente del estabilizador. Deje
funcionar el motor al menos durante 10 minutos
despu_s de agregar el estabilizador para permitir
que el estabilizador llegue al carburador. No vacie
el tanque de gasolina y el carburador si utiliza
estabilizador de combustible.
PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR
A] hacer arrancar el motor por la primera vez o
si se ha acabado el combustible del motor, se
necesitar& tiempo para el arranque extra para
mover el combustible desde el estanque hasta
el motor.

4. Mueva la palanca de control de Ia aceleraci6n
a la posici6n de estrangulaci6n.
AVISO: Antes de arrancar, lea las instrucciones
siguientes parael arranqueen climaf(foytemplado.
5. lnserte la Ilave en la ignici6ny gire la liave en
el sentido que giran las manillas del reloj a la
posici6n de arranque start, y suelte la Ilave tan
pronto corno arranque el motor. No haga funcionar el arrancador continuamente por m&s
de quince segundos por minuto. Si el motor no
arranca despu6s de ratios intentados, mueva
el control de la aceleraci6n a la posiciSn de
r&pido, espere unos cuantos minutos y trate
de nuevo. Si el motor sigue sin funcionar,
mueva et control de la aceleraci6n a la
posici6n de estrangulaci6n y intentede nuevo.
ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO TEMPLADO
(50 ° F/10°O y re&s)
6. Cuando arranque el motor, mueva el control
de la aceleraciSn a la posici6n de r_pido.
• Los accesorios y el embrague ahora pueden
ser utilizados. 8i el motor no acepta esta
carga, vue_vaa arrancar el motor para permitide que se caJienteper un minuto utJlizando e] estrangulador como describido arriba.
ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO FRiO
(50 ° F/10°C y menos)
6. A1 hacer arrancar el motor, mantenga el
controf de la aceleraci6n a la posici6n de estrangulac[6n hasta que el motor se caliente y
empieze tuncionar maJ.Una vez que empleze
a funcionar real, mueva inmediatamente el
control de la aceleraci6n a la posicibn r&pida.
El calentamiento del motor puede tomar a
partir de var(os segundos a ratios minutes
(cuanto m_.sfria esla temperatura, m&s largo
es el calentamiento).
CALENTAMIENTO
AUTOMATICA
PARA LA TRANSMISION
Antes de conducir fa unidad en un tiempo frlo, ta
transmisi6n debe ser calentada como las instrucclones siguientes:
1. Asegdrese que el tractor este situado en una
superficie nivelada.
2. Alivie el freno de estacionamiento y deje que
el freno vuelva a Ia posicibn de operaci6n.
3. Permita que Iatransmisi6n se caliente durante
un minuto. Esto puede set echo durante el
tiempo de calentamiento det motor,
• Los accesorios pueden ser utilizados durante el periodo del recalentamiento deI
motor despu6s que la transmisi6n halia
sido calentada.
PURGAR LA TRANSMISION
_I, PRECAUCI6N: Nunca enganche o desenganche la palanca del control de rueda libre
cuando el motor esta fun¢ionando.
1. Aseg_rese que el control de rueda libre este
en la posici6n enganchada.
2. Si_ntase en el sill6n en ta posici6n de operaci6n, suelte el pedal del freno y ponga el
freno de estacionamiento.

Para asegurar la operaci6n y ejecuci6n adecuada,
es recomendado que la transmisi6n sea purgada
antes de operar el tractor para la primera vez.
Esta proceso remover& oualquier aire adentro
de la transmisi6n que se halla formado durante
el transporte de su tractor.
IMPORTANTE: Si por acaso su transmisi6n debe
ser removida para servicio 0 reemplazo, debe
ser purgada despuL=sde la reinstalaci6n y antes
de operar el tractor.

Para mayor seguridad, ubique el tractor en
una superficie nivelada, despejada de cualquier objeto y abierta, con el motor apagado
y el freno de mano puesto.
2,
Desenganche la transmisi6n poniendo el
controlde rueda libra en la posici6n de desenganchado (Vea "PARA ELTRANSPORTE" en
esta secci6n de este manual).
Sentado en el asiento del tractor, empiece
et motor. Despu@s que este corriendo el mo:
tot, mueva el control de estrangulacibn a la
posici6n de lento. Con la patanca de rueda libre en la posici6n de neutral (N), desenganche
lentamente el embrague/et freno del pedal.

CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR
• NO use cadenas de llanta cuando la carcasa
de Ia cortadora de c_sped est6 colocada en el
tractor.
- La segadora debe estar nivelada en forma
adecuada para obtener et mejor rendimiento
al segar. Vea "PARA NIVELAR LA CAJA DE
LA SEGADOR_' en la secci6n de Servicio y
Ajustes de este manual.
• El lado izquierdo de ta segadora se debe usar
para recorte.
° Maneje de modo que los recortes se desearguen en et &tea que ya ha sido cortada. Mantonga et &rea de corte a Ia derecha del tractor.
Esto producir& una distribucibn m&s pareja de
los recortes y un corte m&s uniforme.
• AI segar las &rea grandes, empiece girando a
la derecha de modo que los recortes se des_
carguen, alej&ndose de los arbustos, cercos,
entradas de autom6viles, etc. Despu_s de una
o dos vueltas, siegue en la direcci6n opuesta,
haciendo virajes a ta izquierda, hasta que
termine.
PRECAUCION: En el transcurso del paso 4,
puede que de pronto se pongan en movimiento
]as ruedas.
4,
Mueva la palanca deI control de movimiento
a la posici6n total de adelante y suj6tela durante cinco (5) segundos. Mueva la palanca
hacia la posici6n total de marcha atr&s y
suj_tela durante cinco (5) segundos. Repita
este proceso tres (3) veces.
5.
Mueva la palanca del control de movimiento
a la posici6nde neutro (N). Apague el motor
y embrague el freno de estacionamiento.
6. Enganche Ia transmisi6n poniendo el control
de rueda Iibre en Ia posici6nde conducir (Vea
"PARA TRANSPORTAR" en esta secci6n del
manual).
7. Sentado en el asiento del tractor, empiece el
motor. Despu@sque este corriendo et motor,
mueva el control de estrangulaci6n media
(I/2) ve[ocidad. Con la palanca de control de
movimiento a la posici6n de neutro (N), lentamente desenganche el embrague/eI freno
del pedal.
8. Mueva lentamente ]a palanca de control
de movimiento hacia adelante, despu_s
que el tractor se mueva aproximadamente
cinco (5) pies (1,5 m), mueva lentamente
con la palanca de control de movimiento a Ia
posici6n contraria. Despu6s que el tractor se
mueva aproximadamente unoscinco (5) pies
(1,5 m) vuelva a poner la palanca de control
de movimiento en Ia posici6n de neutro (N).
Repita este procedimiento Ia palanca de
control de movimiento tree (3) veces.
Su transmisi6n esta ahora purgado y dispuesto
para la operaci6n normal.

° Si el c6sped est_ demasiado alto, se debe
segar dos veces para reducir la carga y los
posibles peligros de incendio debido a los
recortes secos. Haga eJprimer corte relativamente alto; el segundo a Ia altura deseada.
• No siegue el cesped cuando est& mojado. El
c_sped mojado taponar_, ta segadora ydejar&
montones indeseables. Permita que se seque
el c_sped antes de segarlo.
° Siempre opere el motor con una aceleraci6n
¢ompleta cuando siegue para asegurarse
de conseguir un mejor rendimiento y una
descarga apropiada de los materiales. Regute
la velocidad de recorrido seleccionando un
cambioIo suficientementebajo para obtenerun
rendimiento de corte de parts de su segadora
y tambi_n la calidad del corte deseada.
• Ouando opere con accesorios, seleccione una
velocidad de recorrido que se acomode al terreno y le permita obtener el mejor rendimiento
deI accesorio que se est& usando.

RECOMENDACIONES
GENERALES
La 9arantia de este tractor no cubre los arlculos que han estado sujetos at abuso o a la neglgencia del operador. Para recibir todo et valor
de fa garanta, el operador tiene que mantener
lasegadora segbn las instrucciones descritas
en este manual.
Hay aIgunos ajustes que se tienen que hacer
en forma peribdica para poder mantener su
tractor adecuadamente.
A] menos una vez cada estaci6n comprobar
si es necesado efectuar los adjustes descdtos
en las secciones de Servicio y Ajustes de este
manual.
• Una vez al aEo, cambie ]a bujia, Impie o
camb[e el fittro de aire y revise si las cuchl.
]as y ias correas est&n desgastadas. Una bujia nueva y un filtro de aire impio aseguran
una mezcla de aire-combustibie adecuada y
Ie ayudan a que su motor funcione mejor y
que dure m&s.
ANTES DE CADA USO
1. Revise el nive_del aceite dei motor.
2. Revise Ia operaci6n de los frenos.
3. Revise la presi6n de tas lantas,
4. Vedfique que el sistema de presencia del
operado y ROS funcionen adecuatamente.
5. Revise si hay sujetadores sueltos.

IMPORTANTE: No aceite o engrase los puntos
pivotes, los que tienen rodamientos de nil6n
especiales. Los lubricantes v[scosos atraer&n
polvo y mugre, lo que acortara _aduraci_n de
Ios rodamientos. Si cree que lubricarse, use
soiamente un tubdcante tipo grafito de polvoseco
en forma moderada.

Siempre observe las reglas de seguridad
cuando d_ mantenimiento.
OPERACION DEL FRENO
Si el tractor necesita m&s de cinco (5) pies (1,5 m)
para detenerse a la maxima velocidad al carnb[o
mAs altoen una superficJenivelada, de hormig6n
o pavimentada, hay que hacede el servicio al
freno. Ver "PARA VERIFtCAR SI FUNCIONA
BIEN EL FRENO" en el capitu]o de Serv(cio y
ajustes de este manual.
LLANTAS
• Mantenga todos los neum&ticoscon la
presi6n de aire adecuada (Vet Ia PS1 que se
indica en estos).
VERtFIEZ SISTEMA FUNCIONAMIENTO
ATRAS (ROS)
• Cuando el motor est& en marcha con el
interruptor de Ilave en posici6n de motor
"ON" y el embrague del accesorio conectado, cualquier tentativa del operador de viajar
mareha atr&s, apagar& el motor.
• Cuando el motor est& en marcha con el
interrupterde Ilave deI sistema de funcionamiento atr,_s (ROS) en la posici6n "ON" y
el embrague deI accesorio conectado, cuaIquiet tentativa del operador de viajar marcha
atr&s, NO apagard el motor.
CUIDADO DE LA CUCHILLA
Para obtener resultados 6ptimos, las cuchillas de la cortadora deben estar afiladas.
Reemplace las cuchillas que est_n gastadas,
dobiadas o dafiadas.
•
Mantenga las Ilantas sin gasolina, aceite o
substancias quimicas para control de insectos que pueden dafiar la goma.
• EvRe los tocones, las piedras, las grietas
profundas, los objetos afilados y otros peligros que pueden dafiar alas tlantas.
REMOCION DE LA CUCHILLA
1. Levante la segadora a su posici6n m&s alta
para permitir el acceso a Ias cuchiUas.
AVISO: Para arreglar las tlantas perforadas
y p_ra prevenir que tenga Ilantas pinchadas a
causa de pequefias fugas, puede comprar el
sello para Ilantas de su comerciante de partes
de repuesto m&s cercano. Elsello previene que
]as Ilantas se sequen y tambi_n Ia corrosiSn.
AVISO: Proteja sus manos con guantes y/o
envuelva la cuchilla con una tela gruesa.
2. Remueva el perno de la cuchilla dandole
vueltas en e! sentido inverse al de Ias agujas deI reloj.
3.
Instale una hoja que sea nueva o se
haya vuelto a afilar, con el lado que tiene
"GRASS SIDE" grabado orientado aI suelo.
IMPORTANTE: Para asegurar la instalacion
apropiada, posicione el agujero central de ]a
cuchilla con la estrella del conjunto del mandril.
4. lnstale y apriete el perno de la cuchitla
firmemente (Par 45-55 Ft.-Lbsi62-75 Nm).
IMPORTANTE: El perno especial de la cuchilla
es termotratado.
SISTEMA PRESENCIA OPERADOR Y SISTEMA FUNCIONAMIENTO ATP.AS (ROS)
Asegurarse de que el sistema de presencia
del operador y el sistema funcionamiento atr&s
funcionen bien. Si tu tractor no funci6n como
descdto, reparar el problema inmediatamente.

LUBRICACION
Use solamente aceite de detergente de alta
calidad clasificado con Ia clasificaci6n SG-SL de
servicio APt. Selecc{one {acatidad de v(scosidad
del aeeite SAE segQn su temperatura de opero
aci6n esperada.
PARA LIMPIAR LA BATER{AY LOSTERMINALES
La corrosibn y Lamugre de {a bater{a y de
los terminales pueden producir "escapes" de
potencia en Ia bateria.
1. Remueva la proteccibn de los terminales.
2. Desconecte el cable de la baterJa NEGRO
primero y luego el cable de la bateria ROJO
y remueva la bateria del tractor.
3. Enjuague la bateria con agua corriente y
sequela.
4. Limpie los terminales y los extremes deI
cable de la bateria con un cepillo de alambre hasta qua queden brillantes.
5. Cubra los terminales con grasa o parafina.
6. Reinstale la bater[a (Vea "Reemplazar la
Bateria" en la seccidn de Servicio y ajustes
de este manual).
CORREAS V
Revise las correas V para verifiear si existe
deterioro y desgaste despu6s de 100 horas de
operacibn y c&mbielas si es neeesario. Las corteas no son ajustables. Cambie las correas si
empiezan a deslizarse debido al desgaste.
ENFRIAM|ENTO DEL TRANSEJE
Las aletas de enfriamiento y el ventilador de Ia
transmisi6n tienen que mantenerse limpios para
asegurar el enfriamiento adecuado.
No trate de limpiar el venti_ador o la transmisi6n
cuando el motor est6 funeionando o mientras la
transmisi6n est6 ealiente.
• lnspeccione el ventilador de enfriamiento para
asegurarse que las aspas del ventilador est6n
intaetas y lirnpias.
• Inspeccione las aletas de enfriamiento para
vat,car si hay mugre, recortes de c_sped u
otros materiales. Para impedir daSos a ias
juntas, no use un rociador de aire compresado
o de alta presiSn para lJmpiar las aletas de
enfriamiento
NIVEL DEL FLUIDO DE LA BOMBA DEL
TRANSEJE
El transeje ha side sellado en la f&brica y el
mantenimiento del fluido no es necesarie para [a
vida del transeje. En el case de que el transeje
se filtrase o neeesitase servicio, haga eEfavor de
ponerse en contacto con un centre de servicio
Sears o con un otto centre de servicio cual_cado.

AVISO: A pesar de que/os acoites de muttivisc_osidad (5W30, 10W30, etc.) mejoran el arranque
en clima frto, estos aceites de mu[tiviscosidad van
a aumentar el consume de aceite cuanclo se usan
en temperaturas sobre 32° F (0° C). Revise el
nivel del aceite deI motor m&s a menudo, para
evitar un posible dafio en el motor, debido a que
no tiene suficiente aceite.
Cambie el aceite despu_s de 50 horas de operacibn o per Io menos una vez al aSo si et tractor
se utiliza menos 50 horas el argo.
Revise el nivel del aceite det c_.rterantes de arrancar el motor y despu_s de cada echo (8) horas

LIMPIEZA DE LA REJILLA DE AIRE
Para abrirlo, gire la tapa hacia la izquierda.
Unavez que haya vaciado cornpletamente el
aceite, vuelva a oolocar la tapa y girela hacia
la derecha hasta el tope,
Vuetva afijarel acoesorio de purga deI aceite
en el atojamieffto de la turbina del motor.
Vuelva a Ilenar el motor con aceite a trav_s
del tubo de la varilla indicadora de nivel para

La pantalla de aire est& sobre el soplador de la
torna de aim que se ubica an la parte superior
del motor. La pantaI]a de aire se debe mantener
Iibre de suciedad y paja para evitar que el motor
se da_e pot sobrecalentamiento. Limpiecon un
cepiI!o de alambre o con aire comprirnido para
retirar la suciedad y Ias fibras de goma secas
dificiles de quitar.
SlSTEMA DE ENFRIAMIENTO DE AIRE
Los escombros pueden atascar el sisterna de enfriarniento de aire de motor, Rernueva Ia cubierta
del soptador y Iimpie el &rea mostrada para evitar
el recalentamiento y daSos al motor,
Use un rnedidor en tatapajvarillaindicadoradel
niveI pararellenodel aceite pararevisar el nivel.
Mantenga el aceite en la Iinea de _leno (FULL)
en la varillaindicadora de nivel. Apriete latapa
en el tubo en forma segura cuando termine.

Lo que ocurre con mayor probabilidad es que el
limpiador del servicio de aire est@sucio.
1. Quite la cubierta.
2, Con rnucho cuidado, quite el cartucho del filtro
de aire y el pre limpiador de Ia base.

PARA DESMONTAR
LA CORTADORA
DE CESPED
1. Sue[te eI embrague poni_ndolo en Ia posicibn
"DISENGAGED" ("DESACTIVADO").
2. Baje ta palanca elevadora de montaje a la
posici6nde m&s abajo.
3. Ruede la correa de polea del motor (M) y
fijadors de la correa (G).
4. Retire el resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslice la
abrazadera (L) hasta quitarla, y saque a
presi6n la guia de Ia caja (P) hasta que se
salga del soporte.
5, Retire el resorte del cable deI embrague (Q)
del brazo del engranaje (R).
6. Desconecte la pieza de uni6n anterior (E) de
la cortadora- retire el resorte de contenci6n
y ]a arandela.
7. Par uno de los lados de la cortadora, desconecte el braze de suspensi6n de Ia cortadora
(A) del chasisy la pieza de uni6n posterior ((3)
de la barra posterior de la cortadora (D) - retire los resortes de contenci6n y Ias arandelas.
_li CUIDADO: Una vez que se desconecten tas
piezas de uni6n posteriores, ta pafanca elevadora
funcionar_la resorte, Sujete con fuerza la palanca
elevadora al cambiarta de posicibn.
8. Deslice la cortadora par debajo del tado
derecho det tractor.
IMPORTANTE: Si se manta un accesorio diferente del cortac6sped al tractor, hay que quitar
el estribo frontal (E) y Ios estribos traseros de
elevaci6n (C) del tractor y enganchar eI resorte
de embrague (Q) en la gu{a del cable en el borde
frontal del satpicadero m_.s bajo.
INSTALE LA SEGADORA
Aseg0rese de que el tractor se encuentre en una
superficie nivelada, y ponga el freno de mano.

LA SEGADORA
Aseg_rese de que los neurn_ticos est@ninflados
a la PSi que se indica en estos. Si est&n demasiado inflados o poco inflados, el c@sped no
le quedar_, bien cortado, Io cual podr& llevar[o a
pensar que la segadora no est& bien regulada.
REGULAClON VISUAL DE LADe A LADe
1. Si todos los neurn_.ticos est_n correctamente
inflados y el c_sped parece haber quedado
cortado desparejo, determine qu_ lade de la
cortadora est& cortando m&s a{ ras.
IMPORTANTE: El piso debe quedar bien nivelade de lade a lade.
Para que el c@sped le quede perfectarnentecortado, Iascuchillas de la corladora deben ajustarse
de tal rnanera que la punta anterior quede 3,1 a
12,7 mm (1/8 a 1/2 pulgadas) m&s abajo que la
punta posterior cuando la cortadora se encuentre
en su posici6n m_s alta.
_,CUIDADO:
I_ascuchillas son afiladas. Prot_jase las manes con guantes o envuelva lascuchiltas con tela gruesa, o bien haga arnbas cosas.
• Suba Ia segadora a Ia posiciSn m&s alta.
* Ubique cualquiera de las hojas de la cuehitla
de tat manera que Ia punta quede apuntando
directarnente hacia adelante. Mida la distancia
(B) que hay entre Ia punta anterior y el suelo y
entre la punta posterior y el suelo.
2. Con una Ilave inglesa de 3/4" o de calibre regulable, haga girar hacia la izquierda la tuerca
de ajuste de la pieza de uni6n (A) para bajar
lade izquierdo la cortadora, o bien h_.galagirar
hacia ]ado derecho Ia derecha para subida.

3. Pruebe la regulaci6n realizada cortando
c_sped que a_n no haya cortado y observando
c6mo queda. Vuelva a ajustar, en case necesario, basra obtener resultados satisfactorios.

1. Con todos los neurn&ticos correctarnente
inffados, estacione el tractor a niveldel suelo
o en la entrada a la casa.
CUIDADO: Las cuchillas son afiladas. Protejase las rnanos con guantes o envuelva las cuchit....... !as contela gruesa, o bien haga arnbas cosas.
2. Suba la segadora a la posicibn m&s alta.
• Con una Itave ingtesa de t 1/16" o de calibre
reguiable, afloje la tuerca A> d_ndole varias
vueltas para despejar la tuerca de ajuste B.
• Con una Ilave ajustable de 3/4", gire la tuerca
de ajuste de eslab6n frontal (B) hacia ta derecha (r-x) (apriete) para elevar el frente de la
certadora de c6sped, o hacia la izquierda (_'_)
(afloje) para bajar el frente de la cortadora
de c6sped.

3. A arnbos lades de la cortadora, ubique la
cuchilla hacia un lade y mida ta dis_ancia (A)

4. En case que sea necesario reafizar un ajuste,
lea de las instruecionesde Regulaci6n visual
que aparecen m_.s arriba.
5. Vuelva a ver_ficar las medidas y ajuste nuevamente, en case necesario, hasta que arnbos
lades queden iguales.

La correa de impulsi6n de la cuchilla segadora
se puede cambiar sin herramientas. Estacione el
tractor en una supe_cie nivelada. Enganche el
freno de estacionamiento.
REMOCION DE LA CORREA -
MONTAJE DE LA CORREA
I. Instale la correa nueva de la parte de atr&s
a Ia parte de adelante del tractor, pasz_ndola
per encima de la plata de direcci6n (F) y det
v_.stago del pedal del embrague / freno (G).
2. Jale la correa hacia la parte de adelante del
_'actoryp&seto per sobrela poleadelmotor (E).
3. Jale la correa hacia la parte de atr&s del
tractor. Con mucho cuidado, mueva la correa
hacia abajo y pz_selaalrededor del ventilador
de transmisi6n y per encima de la polea de
entrada (D). Cerci6rese de que la correa
est@calzada dentro del guardacorrea.
4. Coloque la correa sobre el pifi6n central (C).
5, Pase la correa atrav_s del pifi6n
estacionario
(A) y del pifi6n del embrague (B).
6. Aseg0rese de que la correa calce en todas
las ranuras de las poleas y dentro de todas
las gulas y guardacorreas_
5. Instale la SEGADORA (Ver "PARA MONTAR
LA SEGADOP_' en este capitulo del manual).

DESMONTAJE DE LA CORREA
1.

NOTE: Observe toda la correade transmisi6n y la
posici6nde todas las guias y guardacorreas.
2. Retire la correa del pi56n estacionario (A) y
del pif6n de embrague (B).
3. Retire la correa del pif_6ncentral (C).
6. Jale el cabte de Ia correa hacia la parte de
atr&s deI tractor. Con touche cuidado, retire
la correa de la polea de entrada de la transmisi6n, movi_ndola hacia arriba y pas&ndola
per encima de las paletas del ventilador (D).
4. Retire la correa de la polea deI motor movi@ndo[a hacia abajo (E).
5. Des[ice la correa hacia Ia parte de atr_.s deI
tractor, retlrela de la placa de direcci6n (F) y
quitela del tractor.
VERIFIQUE EL FRENO
Si el tractor exige robs de 1,5 m (cinco (5) pies)
para pararse a una velocidad m_s alta en el
cambio m&s alto en una superficie niveiada de
hormig6n seco o pavimentada, entonces se debe
controlar y ajustar el freno.
COI'_rTROLDEL FRENO
1. Aparcar el tractor en una superficie nivetada
de hormig6n seco o pavimentada, presionar
el pedal del freno hasta el fondo y accionar
el freno de estacionamiento.
2. Desembragar la transmisi6n colocando el
mando de la rueda libre en la posiciOn "transmisi6n desembragada". Tirar el mando de la
rueda libre fuera y dentro la ranura y soltar
asi se coloca en la posici6n desembragada.
Las ruedas traseras tiene que bloquearse y patinar euando se intenta empujar hacia adelante
el tractor manualmente. Sustituir las zapatas de]
freno o contactar con Sears o con un otro centre
de servicio cualificado.

PARA REMOVER LAS RUEDAS
1. B]oquee el eje en forma segura.
2. Remueva la cubiertadeI eje, el anillo de retenci6n y las arandelas para permitir la remoci6n
de las ruedas (la rueda trasera contiene una
llave cuadrada - no la pierda).
3. Repare _allanta y vu_lvata a montar.
AVISO: En las ruedas traseras solamente: alinee
las ranuras en el cubo de la rueda trasera en el
eje. Inserte la liave cuadrada,
4. Vuelva a colocar las arandelas e inserte el
anil[o de retencibn en forms segura en Ia
ranura del eje.
5. Vuelva a colocar la cubierta deI eje,
AVISO: Pars arreglar las Ilantas perforadas
y p_ra prevenir que tenga Ilantas pinchadas a
causa de pequeSas fugas, comprar de su commerciante Sears y utilizar et selIo pars llantas.

AVtSO: Desplazar el piano de trabajo de Ia segadora hasta Ia posicidnmas baja pars aumentar el
juego al fin de acceder al perno de regulaci6n.
Si el tractor sigue desliz_ndose adelante y atr_.s,
despu_s de esta regulaci6n y con la palanca en
posici6n neutro, efectuar Ias operaciones indicadas de seguida,
1. Aflojar el perno de regulaci6n.
2. Mover la patanca de control deI movimiento de
t/4 o 1/2 pulgaren ladireccibn de deslizamiento.
3. Enroscar bien el pernode regulacibn.
4. Poner en marcha el motor y probarlo.
5. Si el tractor sigue deslizando, repetir tas

son normales. La impresi6n y Ia inclinaci6n de las
ruedas delanteras no son regulables, En caso
que se produzca alg6n daSo que afecte la impresi6n o la inclinaci6nde las ruedas delanteras
taI comovinieron de f&brica, p6ngase en contacto
con un centro de servicios Sears u otto centro de
se_Acios autorizado.
REGU LACION DE LA PALANCA DE CONTROL
DEL MOVtMIENTO NEUTRO DEL CAMBIO
MECANICO
La palanca de control del movimiento del cambio mec&nico ya viene predefinida por la Casa
constructorsy por Io tanto no requiere ulteriores
regulaciones.
1. Aflojar ligeramente el perno de regulaci6n en
fa parte anterior de la rueda posteriorderecha;
2. Poner en marcha el motor y mover la palanca
de controldel movimiento del cambiomec&nico hasta Ilevarla en una posici6nen laque no
se pueda mover ni adelante ni athos;
3. Mantener la palanca de control del movimiento del cambio mec_nico en esta posici6n
y apagar el motor;
4. Manteniendo la palanca en la posicibnarriba
indicada, aflojar el perno de regulaci6n;
5. Mover la palanca de control del movimiento
en posici6n neutro (cierre met&lico);
6. Enroscar bien el perno de regulaci6n.
PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR CON
UNA BATERiA BAJA
_DVERTENCIA:
Las bateHas de &cido-piomo
generan gases explosivos. Mantenga Ias chispas,
las llamas y los materiales pars fumar alejados de
las bater_as. Siempre use una protecci6n pars los
ojos alrededor de las bater(as.Si su bateria est&
demasiado baja como pars hacer arrancar el motor tiene que volverse a cargar. (Vea "Bateria" en
la seccibn de Mantenimiento de este manual).
Si se usan "cables de empalme" pars unarranque
de emergencia, siga este procedimiento:
IMPORTANTE: Su tractor esta equipado con un
sistema de 12 volts. El otro vehtculo tambi@ntiene
que tenet un sistema de 12 volts. No use la baterla
de su tractor pars hacer arrancar a otros vehiculos,
PAPA ADJ UNTAR LOS CABLES DE EM PALME1. Conecte cada extremo del cable ROJO con
el terminal (A-B) POSITIVO (+) de cads
bateria, preocup&ndose de no hacer cortocircuito en el chasis.
2. Conecte un extremo del cable NEGRO
con el terminal (C) NEGATIVO (-) de una
bateria completamente cargada.
3. Conecte el otto extremo del cable (D) NEGRO con un buena CONEXION A TIERRA
DEL CHASIS, alejado del estanque de
combustible y de la bateria,

REEMPLAZAR LA BATERIA
ENTRECIERRE Y RELES
El alambrado suelto o daSado puede producir el
real funcionamiento de su tractor, o que deje de
funcionar, o Ie impida el arrancar,
• Revise el alambrado.
_,DVERTENCIA:
No hagacertocircuitoconlos
terminales de Ia bateria al permitir que una Ilave
de tuerca o cualquier otto objeto entre en contacto
con ambos terminales a la misma vez. Antes de
instalar la bateHa remueva ias puiseras de metal,
los relojes de pulsera de metal, los anillos, etc.
El terminal positivotiene que conectarse primero
para evitar las chispas debido a la conexi6n a
tierra per accidente,

PARA REMOVER EL CONJ UNTO DEL CAPOTA
Y DEL ENREJADO
1. Levante el capota.
2. Desabroche el conector de[ a[ambre de las
luces delanteras.
3. P&rese delante del tractor. Agarre el capota
en los Iados, incltnelo un poco hacia et motor
y s&quelo del tractor.
4. Para volver a instalar el capota, aseg_rese
de volver a conectar el conector del alambre
de las Iuces,
Levantamos la capota a la posici6n levantada,
Remueve Ia protecci6n de los terminales.
Desconecte el cable de la bateria NEGRO
primero y luego el cable de la bateria ROJO
y remueva la bateria del tractor.
Instale la nueva baterfa con los t_rminos en
misma posici6n como la baterfa vieja.
Reemplazamos cubierta terminal
Prirnero, conecte el cable de la baterfa ROJO
con el terminal positivo (+) con el perno
hexagonal y la tuerca segQn se muestra.
Apri_telos en forma segura.
Conecte el cable de conexi6n a tierra NEGRO aI terminal negativo (-) con el pemo
hexagonal y Iatuerca que queden. Apri_tetos
en forma segura.

PARA CAMBIAR LA BOMBILLA DE LA LUZ
DELANTERA
1. Levante el capota.
2. Tire el sujetador de Ia bombilla fuera deI
agujero en la parte trasera del enrejado.
3. Cambie la bombillaen el sujetador y empuje
el sujetador de la bombifla, en forma segura,
hacia atr_.s en el agujero en la parte trasera
del enrejado.
4. Cierre el capota,
PARA CAMBIAR EL FUSIBLE
C&mbielo por un fusible tipo enchufable de 30
amps, tipo automotriz, El sujetador de] fusible
est& ubicado detr&s del tablero,
MOTOR
PARA AJUSTAR EL CABLE DE CONTROL DE
LA ACELERACION
El conkol de la aceleraciOn ha sido preajustado en
la fbbrica y no deberia necesitar ajustes. Revise
los ajustes que se describena continuaci6n, antes
de soltar el cable. Si el ajuste es necesario, yea
de manual de motor.
PARA AJUSTAR EL CONTROL DE

Et controlde Ia estrangulaci6n ha sidopreajustado en Ia f&brica y no deberia necesitar ajustes.

Inmediatarnente prepare su tractor para el aJmacenamiento al final de la temporada o si el tractor
no se va a usar pot 30 dias o m_Ls.
_kADVERTENCIA: Nunca almacene el tractor
con gasolina en el estanque dentro de un edificio
en donde los gases pueden alcanzar una I_ama
expuesta o una chispa. Perm_ que el motor se
enffie antes de almacenarlo en cualquier recinto
privado.
TRACTOR
Remueva fa segadora deI tractor para el almacenamiento pot el invierno. Cuando la segadora
se va a almacenar por cierto periodo de tiempo,
ltmpiela cuidadosarnente, quite toda la mugra,
la grasa, tas hojas, etc. Gu&rdela en una &tea
timpia y seca.
1. Limpie todo el tractor (yea "LIMPIEZPt' en la
secct6n de Mantenimlento en este manual),
2. Inspeccione y cambie Ias correas, si es necesario (yea las instrucciones para el cambio de
las correas en la secci6n de Servicio y Ajustes
de este manual).
3. Lubriquelo, seg0n se muestra en la secci6n
de Mantenimiento de este manual.
4. Asegt_rese que todas las tueroas, los pernos y
los tornillos est@nsujetados en forma segura.
[nspeccione las partes movibles para verfficar
si hay dafio, rotura o desgaste. C&mbielas si
es necesario.
5. Retoque todas superficies pintadas oxidadas
o picadas; aplique lija antes de pintar.
BATERiA,
• Ca_gue la bater{a completamente antes de
guardarta.
• Despu_s de cierto periodo de tiempo en almacenamiento, Ia baterta puede neces{tar volver
a cargarse.
• Para ayudar a evitar la corrosi6n y las fugas
de potencia durante largos per(odos de almaconamiento, se deben desconectar los cables
de la bateria y se debe Iimpiar cuidadosamente
(vea"PARA LIMPIAR LA BATERIA Y LOS TERMINALES" en Ia seccibn de Mantenimientode
este manual).
• Despu6s de limpiarla, deje los cables desconectados y p6ngalos en donde no puedan
entrar en contacto con los terminales de Ia
bateda.
• Si se remueve la bateria del tractor para el
almacenamiento, no la guarde directamente
sobra concreto o sobra superficies h0medas.
• 8i la unidad est,. equipada con indicador de
bateria/conector de carga, se puede adquirir
una unidad de carga opcionaI y conectarse
a la unidad para cargar ]a bateria durante un
alrnacenamiento prolongado. Inspeccione y
limpie las terminales de ]a baterfa conforme sea
necesario antes de almacenarse durante un
tiernpo prolongado con el cargador conectado.

MOTOR
SISTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLE
IMPORTANTE: Es important evitar qua se
forman depositos de gorna en partes fundamentales del sistema de cornbus-tible tales
corno el carburador, el filtro del combustible,
la manguera del combustibles rnezclados con
alcohol (conocido como gasohol o qua tienen
etanol o metanol) pueden atraer humedad, 1o
que conduce a la separac[6n y a la formaciSn
de acudos durante elalmacenamiento.
La
gasolina acidica puede dar_ar el sistema de
combustibIe de un motor durante el pefiodo de
almacenamiento.
• Vaciar el dep6sito del carburante poniendo en
marcha el motor y dej&ndolo funcionar hasta
qua el carburante termine el carburador est_
vacio,
• Nunca use los productos para limpieza del
carburador odel motor an el estanque de
combustible pues se pueden producir dafios
permanentes.
• Use combustible nuevo la pr6xtmatemporada.
AVlSO: El estabilizador de combustible es una
alternativa aceptable para reducir a un minimo
la formaci6n de dep6sitos de goma en el combustible durante el periodo de almacenamiento.
Agregue estabilizador a la gasolina en el estanque de combustible o en e_envase para el
almacenamiento. Siempre siga la proporci6n de
mezcla qua se encuentra en el envase de! estabilizador. Haga funcionar el motor por Io menos
10 minutos despues de agregar el estabilizador,
para perrnitir qua @stellegue aI carburador. No
vaciar la gasolina del estanque de gasolina yet
carburador si se est& usando estabilizador de
combustible.
ACEITE DEL MOTOR
Drene el aceite (con el motor caliente) y c&mbielo
con aceite de motor limp]o. (Vea "MOTOR" en
Ia secci6n de Mantenimiento" de este manuaL)
CILINDRO(S)
1. Remueva Ia(s) buiia(s).
2. Vac_e29.5 mL (_ Oz.) de aceite a trav@s
de! agujero(s) de la bujia en el cilindro(s).
3. Gire Ia Ilave de ignici6na la posici6n de
'_RRANQUE" (START), por unos cuantos
segundos para distribuir el aceite.
4. CambJe por buj_a(s) nueva(s).

• No guarde la gasolina de una temporada a la
otra.
- Carnbie el envase de la gasolina si se empieza a o×idar. La oxidaci6n y/o la mugre en
su gasolina producir&nproblemas.
° Si es posible, guarde su unidad en un recinto
cerrado y cQbrala para protegerla contra el
polvo y la mugre.
Cubra su unidad con un forro protector adecuado que no retenga la humedad. No use
pI_stico. Ei pl_sticono puede respirar, Io que
permite la forrnaci6n de condensacibn, lo que
producir&la oxidaci6n de su unidad.
