OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING:
Before removing the vehicles Cooling System Cap be aware the system may be
pressurised with very hot coolant. Remove cap carefully.
The Draper Cooling System Tester is supplied in a secure carry case containing; a
Pump, Hose, and Universal Adaptor. Individual adaptors are available separately for
certain bayonet or screw fitting caps. Where the universal adaptor is not suitable.
To pressurise the cooling system adjust and insert the adaptor to give a ‘snug’ fit in the
expansion tank or radiator opening, then twist the upper hand wheel clockwise to
expand the rubber bung (see diagram).

Connect the hand pump and hose to the adaptor via the brass quick release adaptor.
Using the hand pump, pressurise the system to the manufacturers recommended
pressure, refer to manufacturers service manual for pressure, or it may be found on the
vehicles cap. The gauge should hold pressure, indicating that no leakage is occurring
in the vehicles cooling system. If the pressure reading drops it can indicate leakage
which can occur in hoses, joints, head gasket and other areas such as water pump
seals, radiator etc.
When removing the tester, slacken the adaptor hand wheel carefully, allowing the
pressure to reduce slowly.
REMEMBER: Very hot water maybe present so exercise care when de-pressurising
and it is recommended for detailed and concise instructions on the correct use of this
tool refer to the vehicle manufacturer’s service manual.
