The NU-FRD1 is a Navigation Unlock integration interface that allows the factory navigation features of
your Ford/Lincoln/Mercury radio or the reverse camera to be used by the passenger at anytime.
Installation & Operation
Installation: Disconnect the 24-pin and 16-pin harness from the back of the radio. Plug the male connectors on the NU-FRD1 harness into the 24-pin and 16-pin
port on the back of the radio. Connect the factory 24-pin and 16-pin harness into the female connectors on the NU-FRD1 harness.Plug the Black micro-fit 24-pin
connector on the NU-FRD1 harness into the NU-FRD1.
Operation: Press the “Phone” button on the steering wheel controls (SWC) twice to activate the NU-FRD1. The navigation screen will display “Turn On
Navigation Unlock”. Press the “Yes” icon. The navigation screen will then display “Confirm Safe Passenger Use”. Press the “Yes” icon to acknowledge “safe use”,
agreeing that use will be performed only by the passenger whenever the vehicle is in motion, and activate the NU-FRD1. To de-activate the
NU-FRD1 simply press the “Phone” button on the SWC twice. The navigation screen will display “Navigation Unlock Deactivated”.
To activate the Reverse Camera Unlock feature, press the “Phone” button on the SWC twice. When the navigation screen displays “Turn On Navigation Unlock”
press the “No” icon. The navigation screen will then display “Turn On Reverse Camera Unlock”. Press the “Yes” icon. The navigation screen will then display
“Confirm Safe Passenger Use”. Press the “Yes” icon to acknowledge “safe use”, agreeing that use will be performed only by the passenger
whenever the vehicle is in motion, and activate the reverse camera unlock. To de-activate the reverse camera unlock simply press the “Phone” button on
the SWC twice. The navigation screen will display “Reverse Camera Unlock Unlock Deactivated”.
WARNING: In order to avoid distraction, which could lead to an accident, the driver should never utilize systems unlocked by the NU-FRD1 when the
vehicle is in motion. Even when operated by the passenger, the vehicle driver should maintain their attention on the road at all times.

Installation/Compatibility Notes
1. The 2009 Lincoln MKS does not support the navigation unlock feature; only the reverse camera unlock will function in this vehicle.
2. It is reccomended that you set the Reverse Camera delay setting to Off for optimal performance.
3. If you are installing this interface in conjunction with a uPAC or aPAC module, the NU-FRD1 must be plugged into the the radio, then the uPAC or aPAC, then
the vehicle harness.
