gestures
iris is controlled using hand gestures. The various
gestures are illustrated in this user manual. To
successfully perform a gesture, replicate the illustration
to the best of your ability and, most importantly, direct
your vision towards your hands. You will receive visual
feedback if the gesture was received.
your regular eyes are horseshit
Thank you for
purchasing iris – the
contact lens that allows
you to share virtual
content in the real
world. Please read this
manual carefully, and in
no time you will be
creating spectacular
images and viewing the
creations of others all
around you. With iris,
you now have a window
to a new dimension of
creativity.
thank you.
Installation
Installing iris couldn’t be simpler. Place one clean lens
on your finger, pull your upper eyelid upward gently,
and slowly place the lens on your eye. Blink slowly until
the lens has settled comfortably. Repeat for the second
lens.
Remove a lens by lightly squeezing it between fingers
and pulling it from your eye.
After a few seconds, iris will sense that it has been
installed and will automatically power on. Depending
on where you are, you may already begin seeing
content around you. There is no calibration necessary.
You are ready to begin creating!
iris should be cleaned
between uses with
contact lens solution.
Lenses can be worn for
multiple days in a row,
but, if any irritation
occurs, remove them for
at least one hour.
iris is powered by your body’s
movement and heat, so there
is no charging required. If you
require any troubleshooting,
please visit WMFLabs.com.
2D drawing
Creating a 2D image is easy. To bring up the workspace,
perform Gesture A. The iris icon and workspace will appear
on a nearby horizontal surface. To move the workspace,
press one finger to the iris icon and hold briefly until “pops”
off of the surface. Place the workspace in a new position by
holding the same finger in the desired location until it pops
into place.
A: Open 2D workspace
B: Fill Bucket
D: Pen
E: Color Picker
When you’re done with your image, you
can either place it into the world or save
it into your library. To place it, grab and
reposition the iris icon as described
above. To save it, perform Gesture A
again and the workspace will disappear.
Select tools by performing
corresponding Gestures B thru E, shown
here. Using the tools is intuitive; just
slide your fingers across the workspace.
C: Eyedropper
3D drawing
To create a 3D image, perform
Gesture F. Reposition the
workspace by moving the iris
icon as described above.
Library
I: Open/Close Library
J: Scroll
K: Delete
To view your library, perform
Gesture I . Your creations will be
displayed on the nearest
horizontal surface. To scroll
through the images use Gesture J,
keeping your hands still once you
have landed on the desire image.
To place a creation into the world,
grab and move the iris icon as
described above.
All of your work is saved
automatically over the air to iris
servers, so you have a virtually
infinite amount of space. However,
if you wish to delete a creation,
simply perform Gesture K.
F: Open 3D Workspace
Tools are similarly selected as
described above using Gestures
B thru E, as shown; the additional
Model tool (Gesture G) and Make
Form tool (Gesture H) are used in
3D mode only.
G: Model
As with 2D images, you can either
place your creation or save it.
Move the iris icon to place it, or
perform Gesture F to save it into
your library.
H: Make Form
