EXPLANATION FOR TERM AS USED IN BSIS
All unscreened donations are automatically
assigned a Quarantine status which means that
until testing process has been completed and the
suitability of donations for therapeutic use has
been determined they cannot be labelled for
release
The visible or measurable endpoint of a test.
A positive test result
A patient who is given a blood transfusion
A reproducible positive result.
A blood donor who donates blood or a
component of blood in order to replace a unit
