SoilVision Systems Ltd. · 3.1.3 Getting Started 10 of 66 SVSoils_Data.mdb: The data database is a secured file that contains data on over 6000 soils collected by SoilVision Systems Ltd. The format of this database is identical to the Demo and Client database files. This database is provided in a read-only format to users of the full version of SoilVision. New information should not be added to the database. Correlation Database The Correlation Database contains correlations commonly used in the practice of geotechnical engineering. The correlations are referenced to journal papers and textbooks they are published in. The correlation database is only available with the full version of SoilVision. 3.1.4 Settings Database The Settings Database contains settings specific to the users application of SoilVision. For example, the settings include minimum and maximum grain-size distribution boundaries for the design of road base materials. Please refer to the grain-size section of this user’s manual for a detailed description of entering and displaying minimum and maximum grain-size distributions. 3.2 Backing Up Your Data It is highly recommended that the user back up their soils data at regular intervals. Backing up soils data is accomplished by making a copy of the SVSoils_MyData.mdb file. Any searches created by the user in the Search Wizard are stored in the SVSearch.mdb file. Soils data is not stored in this file but the specifications for all searches are stored here. The search database should be backed up at regular intervals. The settings database contains specifications of grain-size distribution minimums and maximums. Backing up the specifications file at regular intervals is recommended to preserve all specifications entered into SoilVision.
