System Overview Congratulations! You’ve just purchased the Model 4821, a state of the art electronic access control system, designed to provide you with many years of round-the-clock protection. Your Model 4821 system has been custom programmed and installed using the options and features that most closely meet your needs. If you have any questions about your system, talk to your installation company representative. This manual provides basic instructions for daily system operation. For your convenience, separate operating instructions are included for single-area and multi-area configurations (your installer will tell you which type of system you have). Some operating procedures are marked with a box ( ) to indicate that the feature is optional. You or your installer can use these boxes to show which features have been included with your system. Knowing how to fully operate your system will enable you to maintain the highest degree of security and prevent false alarms. Keep this manual in a secure place for future reference. If the instructions in this manual differ from what your installation company representative has told you, follow your representative’s instructions. Your Model 4821 security system can protect your building using sensing devices such as door contact switches and motion detectors. These devices provide 24-hour electronic surveillance detection and reporting. The 4821 can monitor up to 400 separate zones, which are simply protected areas in your building such as doors and windows. Through touchpads and audible signals, you can quickly identify which part of your system is in alarm. You can also disarm selected areas in your building, while other areas are still armed. Touchpads are normally installed in main office areas and building entries for convenient operation. Programmable in many ways, they provide an extremely high degree of tamper-resistant security. 1
