Combustion air inlet
The stove requires air for combustion.
Combustion air is complementary to the fuel (wood logs).
Both air and fire are necessary to obtain combustion.
A sufficient air inlet (see table) should ideally be created
under the stove, at the front (diagram 2). Wheter the
fireplace is tightly connected or not to combustion air inlet,
the base of the fire (dark grey zone) must be supplied with
fresh air (coming from outside the room).
The air enters the combustion chamber and feed the
fire, the result is the smoke that escapes the combustion
chamber through the chimney.
In opposition, the convection air never comes into contact
with the fire. The convection is an independant air channel
: the air circulates around the combustion chamber, gets
hot and goes out through convection grates in the same
room or in other rooms.
This air inlet comes from a ventilated empty space, a
ventilated room or from outside (mandatory regulation in
some countries) [diagrams 6 & 7].
Arrivée d'air pour la combustion
Le foyer a besoin d'air pour la combustion.
L'air est un comburant, il est complémentaire au
combustible (bûche de bois).
Ces deux éléments sont nécessaires pour obtenir une
combustion.
Une arrivée d'air suffisante doit idéalement déboucher
sous le foyer, vers l'avant [schéma 2]. Que le foyer soit
directement relié à l'arrivée d'air extérieur ou non, une
source d'air doit être assurée dans la zone indiquée en gris
foncé.
L'air va pénétrer dans la chambre de combustion, alimenter
le feu et la fumée issue de cette réaction va être aspirée
dans le conduit de fumée.
Par opposition, l'air de convection n'est jamais en contact
avec le feu. La convection est un circuit d'air chaud qui
circule autour de la chambre de combustion, se réchauffe
et est distribué dans la ou les pièce(s) avoisinant(s) le foyer.
Cette arrivée d’air proviendra d’un vide ventilé, de la pièce,
d’un local ventilé ou de l’extérieur (disposition obligatoire
dans certains pays) [schémas 6 et 7].
