3. Reboot the machine. Hopefully, if the hardware is not too different, Windows will boot and fix itself
up to the new hardware. If this happens then go to bullet 11 in this procedure
4. If the machine “Blue Screens” during boot then reboot machine using the Windows installation disc
5. The installation disc will load drivers, if it does not contain a SCSI driver for the new machine then
load a new driver by pressing F6 when prompted
6. When prompted select install Windows. Do not go into the recovery console
7. The Windows installation will begin. It will discover an existing Windows partition with a Windows OS
and ask if you want to repair it or install a new copy of Windows. Select the repair option. If this
does not happen the chances are that you do not have a matching OS install disc to the machine
backup you have recovered
8. Windows will now go through repairing the Snapshot recovered version of Windows. It will look like
it is installing Windows, but all the programs and their settings will remain.
New drivers will be
installed for the new hardware
9. When recovery is finished boot into Windows
10. Perform any additional configuration changes required
11. Backup the new machine
Use this procedure in conjunction with a file based restore for data recovery and recovery a subsequent OS
and application changes.
