The manual adjuster hex is intended for use during adjuster installation and brake overhaul. WARNING: Automatic slack adjusters must never be repeatedly adjusted to correct excessive in service pushrod stroke, because this NOTE: condition indicates that a problem exists with the automatic adjuster, with the installation of the adjuster or with related foundation brake components which manual adjustment will not correct. Spider / Air Chamber & Brake Adjuster Inspection CAUTION: Seals must be installed as indicated so that lip side (with spring) of both seals faces toward brake adjuster end of bracket. Improperly oriented seals may allow grease to exit camshaft head end of air chamber bracket and contaminate lining material. All Brakes, Except Trailer Axles Install Seals Flush With End of Tube At Brake Adjuster End, Recess Bushing 22/32" (17.5 mm) Lip Side of Both Seals Must Face Toward Brake Adjuster End of Bracket Figure 44.
