Usea groundedthree-wireextensioncordandreceptacleforall machines
with electricstartengines.
Neverattemptto makeanyadjustmentswhileengineisrunning,except

Safe Handling
of Gasoline:
Toavoid personalinjuryor property damageuseextreme carein handling
gasoline.Gasolineisextremely flammable andthe vaporsareexplosive.
Seriouspersonalinjurycan occurwhengasolineis spilledon yourselfor your

Neverfill containersinsidea vehicleor ona truckor trailerbedwitha plastic

rapidly.Rapidretractionofstartercord(kickback)will pullhandandarm
towardenginefasterthanyoucanletgo. Brokenbones,fractures,bruisesor
sprainscouldresult.
Ifsituationsoccurwhicharenot coveredinthismanual,usecareandgood
judgment.
Donot put handsor feetnearrotatingparts,inthe auger/impellerhousing

Loosenandremovethe wing knob,saddlewasher,handletab andcarriage
screwon eachsideof the lowerhandle.SeeFigure1.

Slidethe looselyfitted cabletiefrom the right sideofthe lowerhandleup to
the crossmemberof the lowerhandle.Leavethe secondcabletie in placeon
the rightsideof the lowerhandle.SeeFigure3forreference.
IMPORTANT:
It will be necessary to lift the upper handle while
sliding up this cable tie to prevent damage to the cable.

Lift the upperhandleupandpositionit overthe lowerhandle,aligningthe
holeswherethe wingknobswereremoved(1).SeeFigure2.

mountingclip andacabletie at the factory.Cutthe cabletie beforeoperatingthe

that you operate this snowthrower on gravelas
it caneasilypickup andthrow loosegravel,causingpersonalinjuryor

Fuel Recommendations

MTBE(MethylTertiaryButylEther)canbeused.Neveruseanoil/gasolinemixture
or dirty gasoline.Avoidgetting dirt, dust,or waterinthe fuel tank.DONOTuseE85
gasoline.
Theengine isshippedwith oil in the engine.Youmust, however,check
the oil level prior to operatingthe snowthrower. Runningthe engine
with insufficientoil cancauseseriousengine damageandvoid the engine
warranty.
Refuelin awell-ventilatedareawith the enginestopped.Donot smokeor
allowflamesor sparksin the areawherethe engineisrefueledor where
gasolineisstored.

in ReplacingBelts.

Removethe plasticbeltcoveron the front of theenginebyremovingthe
self-tappingscrewandpressingthe plastictabsto releasethe beltcover.

Visuallyinspectfor frayed,cracked,or excessively
wornout belts.Replace,if
necessary,
andfollowinstructionsbelow.
Tipthe snowthrowerupandforwardsothat it restson the augerhousing.
Removethe beltkeeperascalledout in Figure19.Returnthe snowthrower
to itsuprightpositionto completethe followingsteps.

Slipthe front augerbeltoffof the enginepulley,pushingit forwardand
rollinginoffof the pulley.SeeFigure18.

Squeezethe augercontrolhandleto releasethe augerbrake,whichisthetab
that holdsthe belt ontothe augerpulley.Remove
the belt.
4.
Replace
with newbeltafter replacingthe drivebelt.

PreparingEngine
Enginesstoredover30daysneedto bedrainedof fuel to preventdeteriorationand
gumfromforminginfuel systemor on essentialcarburetorparts.If thegasolinein
yourenginedeterioratesduringstorage,youmayneedto havethe carburetor,and
otherfuel systemcomponents,servicedor replaced.
Whenstoringthe snowthrowerin anunventilatedor metalstorageshed,
careshouldbetakento rustproofthe equipment.Usinga lightoil or silicone,
coatthe equipment,especially
anychains,springs,bearingsandcables.

Removeall fuel fromtank byrunningengineuntil it stops.Donot attemptto
pourfuelfrom the engine.
Followlubricationrecommendations.
2.
Changetheengineoil.
3.
Removesparkplugandpourapproximately1oz.(30ml) ofcleanengineoil
into the cylinder.Pullthe recoilstarterseveraltimesto distributetheoil, and
reinstallthe sparkplug.
4.
Cleandebrisfrom aroundengine,andunder,around,andbehindmuffler.
Applya lightfilm ofoil on anyareasthat aresusceptibleto rust.
Removeall dirt from exteriorof engineandequipment.
Storeequipmentinaclean,dry area.
Inflatethe tiresto the maximumPSI.Referto tire sidewall.
Storeinaclean,dry andwell ventilatedareaawayfromanyappliancethat
operateswith aflameor pilot light,suchasa furnace,waterheater,or
clothesdryer.Avoidanyareawitha sparkproducingelectricmotor,or where
powertoolsareoperated.
If possible,avoidstorageareaswith high humidity.
