Input/output interfaces between a computer system and the external world. A CPU reads an input to sense
the level of an external signal and writes to an output to change the level of an external signal.
JTAG
Joint test action group: acronym commonly used to refer to an interface allowing on-chip emulation and
programming.
LED
Light-emitting diode.
MC56F80x
A Freescale family of 16-bit DSCs dedicated to motor control.
PI controller
Proportional-integral controller.
PWM
Pulse width modulation.
RPM
Revolutions per minute.
SCI
Serial communication interface module: a module that supports asynchronous communication.
