However , th e ext erna l s ystems cann ot r ead t he raw fi les c omin g fro m t he EVS
server s. For t his r eason , XTAcce ss is us ed as a “gatew ay ” be twee n th e EVS
Server a nd the I T worl d. It tak es up th e rol e of gatew ay use d so far by
XFile/ XStr eam a s i t cre at es fi le f orma ts co mpli ant with e xter nal syst ems.
XTAcces s is dire ctly c on nected t o the EVS se rver s throug h the Gig abit ne t work. It
runs on an XP work stat i on and is ma inly cont rol led by the e xter nal s yst ems (no
user i nter face ) vi a XM L fi les or ot her proce sses .

Recommendations
The XTAcce ss sof tware i s instal led on a work stat i on opera ting un der Wind ows XP,
Windows 2 003 S erver , w indows S even 3 2 bit , wi ndows Se ven 64 b it or Windows
Server 200 8 SP 2 64 bit . With t he 6 4 bi t OS , XT Ac cess r uns as a 32 bit app licat ion.
The mi nimum sys tem r eq uireme nts are:

Worksta tio n or Lap top
•
CPU Pen tium P4, 2.0 GH z +
•
512 MB RAM (2GB for th e rend erin g o f pl ayli st a n d tra nscod ing jobs )
•
GigE b oard wit h Jum bo F rame c apab ilit ies

VGA 10 24x7 68
The XTAc cess sof tware runs e ither on EV S wor kstat ions like IPDir ecto r, XFile,
XStore , or on any stan dal one t hird- part y wo rkst atio n.

3. Software Installation
The in stal lat ion pack age is bas ed on o ne i nsta llsh i eld:
XTAcces s_1. 16.x x_Se tup .exe
For the Xedi o Integ rat ion Option, co ntac t the Xedi o support t o insta ll the c omplia nt
softwa re.
To ins tal l XTA ccess ; p roc eed as fo llows :
1. Copy t he i nsta llsh ield X TAcces s_1. 16.x x_Set up. exe in a temp dire ctor y (e.g.
C:\Ins tal l So ftwar e\XTA cc ess\).
2. Run XT Acces s i nsta llsh i eld XT Acce ss_1 .16. xx_S etup. exe and then fo llow the
steps of the Setu p wiz ard .
3. Press NEXT.

(EVS L icen ses XSec ure codes are nec essa ry f or the t rans codi ng jobs and
render ing of play list s).

Instal l XTAc cess Enco ders: T his o ptio n wil l i nstal l all the c odec dll
necess ary for the tran sco ding jobs and for the ren dering of pla ylis ts.
•
Instal l X TGate way: Th is opt ion will in stal l X TG ateway . XT Gate way is a
Windows ser vice req uire d for rend ering pl ayli sts w i th XTA cces s.
•
Instal l AppG uard: This optio n will inst all A ppGu ard. Ap pGua rd wil l res tar t

XTAcces s ne ver g ener ates f iles with Unic od e file names . Fi les a re named
"Unicode File name. mxf" i n stead of the "r eal" U nico de cl ipnam e.
XTAcces s is capa ble t o use fi les w ith U nico de filen ames . The se fi les can be
locat ed in a fol der h avi ng a Uni code fil ename . And the se Un icod e fil es can be
used into sca n fo lder wit hout any trou ble.
