Section 1 : Introduction
This manual describes the techniques required for the three main types of pneumatic piezometer installation:
 borehole with sand cell
 push-in (shallow soil foundations, shallow boreholes, fill)
 up-hole (small diameter percussive-drilled holes)
The operating principle and method of use of the three types of pneumatic readout unit (gauge push-button,
gauge two-valve, digital push-button) are briefly discussed, for additional information refer to the respective
users manuals.
It is essential that the equipment covered by this manual should be installed and operated by competent and
suitably qualified personnel.
These techniques are intended to serve as a general guide and will vary to suit particular site conditions.
