VIDEO ENTRY SYSTEM
Introduction
v ideo e ntry system functions
STANDARD
Call
Calls can be made in one of two ways, depending on the type of entry panel:
- pushbutton: by simply pressing one of the buttons.
- numerical call: by entering the number of the user to be called.
When the call has been entered, the entry panel emits the "call entered" tone, and the receiver emits the
"call received" tone. In the case of a video entry system, the video signal from the entry panel appears
simultaneously on the monitor of the receiver. The duration of the call tone is programmable; when the
programmed time has elapsed, the system is deactivated and the monitor switches off.
Simultaneous call
The system can be programmed so that a call can be routed to more than one receiver simultaneously: in this
case, all the receivers will emit the call tone and their monitors will switch on (for video systems). The call can
be answered from any of the receivers; the remaining receivers will switch to "busy".
Confide ntiality of conversations
To ensure that conversations remain confidential, when a call is made from an entry panel to a receiver the
conversation cannot be heard – and the entry panel video cannot be seen – from any of the other receivers.
The conversation can be interrupted only by another call having a higher priority. The confidentiality of the
conversation is also maintained in the case of a call from an entry panel, self-connection of a receiver or a
simultaneous call (including those from inside the same apartment).
doorBe ll function
This function can be set up by connecting a standard button directly to the terminals of receivers designed
for this feature. When this button is activated, the receiver emits a call tone which is different from that
which sounds when a call is made from an entry panel; the monitor, however, does not switch on. The call will
be audible only from the receiver to which the button is connected, until the button is released.
Call from sta ir-landing
A receiver (or interconnected group of receivers) can also be connected to a dedicated entry panel which is
not connected to the other receivers on the riser. The dedicated entry panel can feature the same functions
as the main entry panel (audio/video communication with confidentiality of conversations and actioning of
the door lock).
A call between the dedicated entry panel and the receiver to which it is connected does not block the main
line, which therefore remains open for any calls from the main entry panel to the other receivers.

VIDEO ENTRY SYSTEM
Introduction
S TA N DA R D
During the course of a call the user can press the button on the receiver in order to release the door lock
corresponding to the entry panel. The door lock can be released either directly from the entry panel or using
remote relay modules.
Door lock re lease from e ntry pane l
This function is available on digital entry panels or using dedicated access control modules. The door lock
can be actioned using a valid numeric code, RFID Tag or IR key.
Se lf-connection
When the system is not in use (i.e. when no calls are in progress), press the "self-connection" button on
the receiver to activate video communication with the entry panel: the images from the entry panel will be
displayed on the monitor of the receiver. If audio, too, is required, simply lift the handset or press the "hands
free" button on the receiver.
Cyclic operation
If the system features more than one entry panel, it is possible to view all the video images in sequence by
pressing "self-connection" on the receiver repeatedly. Systems can also be set up to display not only video
images from the individual "block", but also those of the "main" entry panels (i.e. those common to all "blocks").
When the system has been activated, if a call is received from an entry panel, press the "self-connection"
button to display the images from the remaining entry panels in the "block" from which the call is made. This
operation terminates the call. The system remains activated until cut off by the timer.
Aux iliary commands
All receivers feature at least two auxiliary commands (AUX) so that stair lighting, electrically-controlled gates
etc. can be controlled by relay modules.

Introduction
Only for receivers featuring these functions
Pr i vacy
The "privacy" function allows the user to disable the receiver and thus not to receive calls. This function
is selected by pressing the corresponding key. An receiver set to "privacy" mode will not emit any call tone
when a call is received. If the entry panel features a display, the "privacy" status of the receiver called will
be displayed.
Pan ic Alarm
This function allows the user to send a silent alarm or emergency signal to the porter switchboard. The
porter switchboard will be alerted by an acoustic and luminous alarm signal. The signal will be recorded in
the events memory.
Emerge ncy
This function, available only for receivers fitted with the corresponding terminals, makes it possible to
connect a button to a generic "pulse generator" which, when actioned, sends an emergency/alarm signal to
the porter switchboard without emitting any acoustic signal at the receiver. The porter switchboard will be
alerted by an acoustic and luminous alarm signal, which will be recorded in the events memory.

It is possible to transfer an audio call from one receiver to another by pressing one of the optional intercom
buttons (from 3 to 10, depending on the model of the receiver). Calls between receivers maintain confidentiality
of the conversation and have a duration of 60 seconds. The call can be interrupted by either of the receivers
by replacing the handset (for receivers with handset) or interrupting the call (for hands-free models).

apartme nts
It is possible to transfer an audio call from one receiver to another by pressing one of the optional intercom
buttons (from 3 to 10, depending on the model). The call will utilize the main line (riser), which means that no
other calls can be made between an entry panel and another receiver. Calls between receivers maintain
confidentiality of the conversation and have a duration of 60 seconds. The call can be interrupted by either
of the receivers by replacing the handset (for receivers with handset) or interrupting the call (for handsfree models).
Incom ing call signal dur ing a conversation betwee n
rece i vers in the same apartme nt
A call from an entry panel to an receiver which is already engaged in an intercom call with another receiver
in the same apartment will generate a "beep". The video image from the entry panel making the call will be
displayed on both the receivers engaged in the call. To respond to the call it is necessary to replace the
handset (or press the hands free "end call" button), and then respond when the normal call tone is heard. If it
is preferred not to interrupt the intercom conversation, the lock controlled by the calling entry panel can still
be released. The entry panel sounds the "busy" signal while the "incoming call" signal is activated.
Incom ing call signal dur ing a conversation betwee n
rece i vers in differe nt apartme nts
A call from an entry panel to an receiver which is already engaged in an intercom call with another receiver
in a different apartment will generate a "beep". The video image from the entry panel making the call will
be displayed only on the receiver being called; the receiver in the other apartment will receive no signal. To
respond to the call it is necessary to replace the handset (or press the hands free "end call" button), and then
respond when the normal call tone is heard. If it is preferred not to interrupt the intercom conversation, the
lock controlled by the calling entry panel can still be released. The entry panel sounds the "busy" signal while
the "incoming call" signal is activated.
Transferr ing a call
If the system features the intercom function, a call from an entry panel can be transferred to a different
receiver. Whether the receiver is in the same apartment or a different apartment, the procedure for
transferring the call is the same. When the call is received from the entry panel, it is necessary to answer
normally, then make the intercom call to the receiver to which to transfer the call, wait until the receiver
responds and finally end the call with the entry panel.

DIGITAL ADJUSTMENT OF ANGLE
OF aperture
Thangram features the “wide eye” system (angle of lens aperture

Audio and video modules
vE R S I O N s
for entry panels with non-BPT front plates
Applying many of the winning features of the Thangram
series, BPT now extends its range of entry panels with the
addition of audio and colour video entry modules for the X1
and XIP systems. This device is extremely flexible in terms
of installation, since personalized non-BPT metal front
plates can be used to select the panel that meets the exact
requirements of the user.

X1 offers great flexibility in the choice of pushbuttons (single, double, doubleheight) to suit the type of system. It is necessary simply to select programming
mode and press the first button on the entry panel. For any other entry panels
having the same configuration, no further action is necessary: they will be
programmed in the same way as the first. Nothing could be easier!

directly when the connection of the receivers is checked. To do so, simply press
the door lock release button and AUX2 on the receiver to activate the audio and
video line to the entry panel and press the call button on the entry panel for the
receiver to be associated with it. A "beep" will sound to confirm that the link has
been programmed. In case of an error, repeat the procedure.

Each "block", controlled by a power supply module, is independent and thus can not only control all local communications between that block's
entry panels and receivers, but also receive and transfer calls to and from other blocks.
The ETI/XIP gateways are supplied complete with a plug-in connector cable which plugs into the VA/08 power supply module and two ethernet
ports for connection to the local network.

The server makes it possible to utilize the porter software, and also centralizes the access control and porter service functions. The unit is
housed in a casing measuring 115x100x26 (WxDxH). Protection rating IP20. The server features one RJ45 connector for 10/100 ethernet, one HDMI
socket for connection to a digital monitor (for diagnostics only), four USB ports for FW updates, back-ups or exporting the event logs. The
server is supplied complete with a license for the utilization of the Porter software.
NEW FEATURES XIP SYSTEM VeRSION 2 .x
The XIP system has today evolved even further, with the introduction of the firmware 2.x versions for the principal devices and software
applications, which offer new system features and the management of interoperability with devices manufactured by third parties.
As from today, it is possible to use a Multiserver architecture in an XIP system - the ideal solution when two or more sections are linked via
a low bit-rate connection (e.g. a radio link, VPN via internet with non-guaranteed band-width, adsl link etc.). Each server controls the calls
concerning its specific sub-system, which avoids congestion of the line that interconnects the various sections, thus improving the audio and
video quality of the calls and allowing for a greater number of simultaneous calls.
With the introduction of the new 2.x version, it is also possible to interact with third-party devices (SIP ATA and SIP Gateway), so that the user
can, for example, receive a call from an entry panel on an analogue telephone (either traditional or cordless) – a useful feature for a
condominium switchboard operator – and forward calls from the XIP system to a local telephone network (such as a company network) or to
the GSM or PSTN networks. In each of these cases, other features can be added – such as opening a door or switching on a light – using simple
preset DTMF codes. As well as the traditional world of telephone communications, XIP can today interface with SIP telephones and third-party
VoIP switchboards, which are increasingly popular in the world of services because these provide a series of advanced functions that cannot
be handled by traditional telephone systems. Where consent is given by the devices, it is possible to make video calls from the entry panel to
SIP telephones and to utilize DTMF tones for call activation.

porter serv ices
The software for porter services, which runs under the Windows operating system, can be used to supervise the entire system even in largescale residential complexes. The interface has been developed specifically to give the operator full control of the system in the simplest
and most practical way. Simple, intuitive commands and the possibility of using the software with a touch-screen PC are especially useful to
operators who are accustomed to more traditional systems. A webcam can be connected directly for bi-directional contact between all the
porters.

VIDEO ENTRY SYSTEM
access control functions
The access control function is designed to control access via the transit points
controlled by the entry panels without the need to add any devices to the video
entry system. The user is identified by an RFID Tag or by a numerical code; if the
code is valid and enabled, the system will action the lock release at the transit
point.
The access control functions are implemented by the VA/01 and VA/08 power
supply modules, and can therefore be used with extremely simple systems in
which the entry panels feature an RFID reader module or a numeric keypad
module.
Programming can be carried out manually (though with certain limitations) or
using the system configuration software to programme the badges and the
codes assigned to each user and the access points which they are authorized
to transit.
The ETI/XIP video entry system gateways add a series of advanced access
control functions which can be configured by connecting directly to the
interface via the data network and using a standard internet browser such as
Internet Explorer.
The advanced access control functions are associated with the access permits
assigned to each group of users.
Example of access control for a user having a specific access permit:
- access path to Building A only
- time of day for access 08:30 - 12:30
- days of the week: Monday - Friday
- holidays: NO

BDDE by
y b pt - secur ity of data
To guarantee the security of the data memorized and the integrity of the information in the event of a breakdown in the data
network, the system utilizes the BDDE (BPTDynamic Data Exchange) system, which can be used for replication, in at least two gateways,
of all configurations, logs and user information. The BDDE system not only performs independent synchronization of all the data; if
a power supply module or an interface require replacement, the system automatically transmits the configuration data and settings
to the new devices so that full operation can be resumed without delay.
The security of the data and of its transitions via the local network is guaranteed between the interfaces and between the interface
and the configuration PC by the SSL 128-bit encrypting protocol (the same system used in Home Banking software).
All information stored in the interface databases is encrypted using the MD5 algorithm for total security.
102
VIDEO ENTRY SYSTEM
access perm its
A combination of four parameters are used to define access permits:
pat h s
A "path" is a set of transit points to which access is permitted.
t i m e s o f day
Specific periods during the course of the day during which access is permitted.
days o f t h e w e e k
Days of the week for which access is permitted.
h o l i days
Days on which access is NOT permitted.
st
t e p 1: creating an access perm it
The four parameters combine to create the access permit. Access will only be granted
when all four of these parameters are complied with.
For example:
1) the entry panel must be on the specified path
2) the time must fall within the specified periods
3) the day of the week must be among those selected
4) the day must not programmed as being a holiday
XIP System
step 2: assign

adge
Each user is assigned a numerical code and, where required, an RFID tag (badge).
s t e p 3: c r e at i o n of user grou
u ps
Multiple access permits are associated with groups with which the
individual users, too, are associated.
When a user is identified by a badge or code and at least one of
the access permits associated with his or her group is valid, access
will be granted.
103
VIDEO ENTRY SYSTEM
configuration of the system
The new devices that make up the X1 and XIP systems are all fitted
with USB ports, so that it is unnecessary to use bulky serial adapters,
and programming is faster and simpler.
The configuration software for the new systems (PCS/XIP) is
designed to create all the structures necessary for the system.
Using a single set of software and one graphic interface, just a
few simple clicks of the mouse are sufficient for configuration of a
video entry system of any dimensions, from a single-family home to
an entire digital village.
All the objects that make up the system can be transferred to the
main part of the screen using the simple "drag & drop" method.
From the "objects properties" area, all these objects can be
configured with all the necessary parameters and can be assigned
names which will simplify control and maintenance.
Once the structure has been created and all the devices have
been configured, all the devices connected to the system can be
programmed rapidly from the USB port.
In this way, the entire system can be programmed (or reprogrammed) from a single point.
XIP System
All RFID access control devices can be acquired off-line via the PCS
and with DREAD, and programmed once they have been connected
to the system.
All access control information stored on the PC is encrypted.
104
The "Unit view" section can be used to enter advanced access control settings and for self-connection of the entry panels by the users.

configuration of the network parameters
For configuration of the network parameters, it is sufficient to access the web interface and modify the parameters in the
corresponding window.
Once the IP address has been configured, the configuration tool can be used to set up the remaining devices.
XIP System
If the gateways are connected to a pre-existing network structure,
different limitations are applicable. The system should be wired in star
configuration (which is typical of ethernet networks).
The network can include not only the CAT 5, but also sections in fibre
optics or radio links. Whichever solution is used, the bandwidth must
be sufficient.

The “Soft Receiver” software application enables you to install a true internal IP video receiver on your home or office PC. It
integrates into BTP's XIP system simply by connecting the PC to the network that controls the video entry system.
Besides adding classic video entry functions using a graphic interface that's easy for the user to understand, Soft Receiver
also offers a number of advanced functions that include audio/video intercom calling both to other BPT Soft Receivers and
to all X1 internal receivers (if the PC is equipped with a webcam). What's more, it enables the user to manage a list of missed
calls, choose from favorite contacts, and run a dynamic search of the users and porters present in the XIP system.
Another important function consists of managing two audio/video lines: for example, a call can be received on one line while
a call is in progress on the other line, which is put on hold while the call on the second line is answered and then ended. The
user then returns to the call on the first line.
An audio/video call can even be transferred to another internal receiver.
In order to operate, the Soft Receiver software requires a server in the ETI/SER XIP system, which registers the program by
validating its license for use.
This software can be installed only on terminals running Windows XP/VISTA/WIN7.

a table-top audio/video terminal with a 4.3” touch screen. The terminals will be programmed using the programming tool and provided with a
list of all the users served by the system. The terminals may display incoming calls and alarm messages.

XIP System
When a call is received from one of the entry panels, the
switchboard operator is advised by a customizable ringtone
melody and receives the video image from the entry panel. At
this point, the operator may:
- Allow the caller to enter immediately
- Open the audio channel with the entry panel
- Transfer the call to a different user
Transfer of the call takes place via a smart-sensitive use

Certificates of quality
The Production Control system at BPT is certified to the following international standards: UNI EN ISO9001 and UNI EN ISO14001. This means that
all the processes carried out by the company are closely supervised and controlled in order to guarantee the maximum possible efficiency
and effectiveness in terms of the quality of our products and services.
The Quality Control system (certified to ISO9001), which was implemented several years ago at BPT, operates in parallel with the Environmental
Management System (certified to ISO14001) concerning sustainability and the safeguarding of the environment.
BPT takes the greatest care in selecting the materials used for its products, and utilizes eco-friendly manufacturing technologies.
In addition to this, as part of the company's efforts to bring about continuous improvement in every aspect that impacts the environment,
BPT has implemented a strategic plan aimed at reducing energy consumption, as well as a number of major measures designed to prevent
damage to the environment and to improve customer service.
We at BPT are firmly convinced that our Environmental Management System, together with the Quality Control system, is a significant
factor in stimulating us to continue in our efforts towards maintaining and increasing our professional expertise in terms of the design
and construction of the product.
The appliances described in this catalogue are all designed for civilian applications.
Appliances with voltage and frequency requirements different from those shown in the catalogue may be supplied on request.
BPT reserves the right to modify the products at any time without prior notice.
