Follow up
Ask children to find trios of odd numbers with a sum of 15. The odd numbers can be the same or different.
(There are eight different possibilities)
Further notes
Play the game on sheet 3, above right. You could introduce the game on the interactive whiteboard, then ask
children to play it in pairs.
Teams take turns to roll the dice. The team tries to make a 2-digit odd number with the two digits.
If 3 and 4 are rolled, the team can make 34 or 43. If the team succeeds, it moves its counter on one square.
Otherwise, it misses a turn. The winner is the first team to reach the island. To roll the dice, click on the dice and
then on the Roll button.
During the game, ask
Can you make an odd number with these two digits? If not, why not?
You could print copies of sheet 3. Pull down the File menu and choose Print. Give a copy to each pair, plus
two dice and two counters, and ask them to play the game.
