The sensor measurement is displayed on the top line and the temperature measurement is displayed on the
bottom line. The “AB” indicators on the top right indicate activation of relays A and B. An underscore indicates
that the corresponding relay is not activated. The “DS1: 6” indicates that Channel 1 is connected to the
DataStick with a Modbus address of 6. The “DS2: 7” indicates that Channel 2 is connected to the DataStick
with a Modbus address of 7. Calibration and configuration functions are accessed by pressing the MENU key
from the appropriate measure screen. For example, the DataStick with a Modbus address of 6 can be
calibrated and configured if the MENU key is pressed while the screen shows “DS1: 6”. Correspondingly, the
DataStick with a Modbus address of 7 can be calibrated and configured if the MENU key is pressed while the
screen shows “DS2: 7”. The Gateway Mode screen shows a bracketed number in the lower right corner to
indicate which DataStick is being accessed by the host. The MENU key does not present menu functions while
in the Gateway mode.
When the AV38 is not equipped with host communications hardware, the Gateway mode is not available. The
two measure screens are accessed with the RIGHT and LEFT arrow keys.

When a sensor head of the same type is replaced in a DataStick, analog output and relay settings are
maintained. If a sensor head of a new type is installed, analog output and relay settings are automatically set to
default conditions.
The example in Figure 2 illustrates HOLD MODE as indicated in the measure screen. The “H” in front of the
“DS1: 6” in the lower right corner of the display indicates that outputs and relays are on hold.

Figure 2, the measure screen, also shows the sensor value, sensor units, temperature value, and temperature
units. Relays A and B are activated. The measurements are on hold and the Modbus station address for the
DataStick is 6.
