especially in the warm months, are not usually distributed as evenly, and tend to fluctuate widely
over an area.
Therefore, as in hurricane forecasting, think of the forecast rain amounts as "educated guesses" that
help you to zero in on the most vulnerable areas. Also as in hurricane forecasting, the rain amount
error increases dramatically as the forecast goes to Day 2 and especially Day 3.
Always check with your local Weather Service office for the latest updates on the rainfall situation and
the latest river stages. These forecasts are constantly being revised and the HPC forecast shown in
HURREVAC can be several hours old.
