Send BOM Table to File
After you have completed your piping drawing you can compile the piping
BOM table and export this in text format to a file.
NOTE
It is advisable that you set all BOM settings before any piping objects are added to the
drawing. Changing BOM setting after piping objects are already inserted might result in
program error.
At the start of the piping project it was decided that “Remarks” and “Stock
Codes” columns will not be required in the BOM table. These columns
were therefore disabled: => “Options” tab => “BOM CFG” tab =>
“Remarks” and “Stock Codes” fields turned off.
To start building the piping BOM table, use the “BOM” tab – piping main
dialogue. This will start the “Mech-Q BOM Configuration” dialogue. Set
the BOM settings as you prefer – but make sure that the BOM Table switch
is set “To File”. Then use the “CFG” tab

Set the Export to – “Plain Text File” All existing fields will be exported.
Then use the “OK” tab.
For this exercise we have selected to set the Selection switch to “Global”.
We choose to set the table insertion point “Bottom” & “Right”
Use the “Apply” tab (Mech-Q BOM CFG dialogue) when ready. This will
bring up the “Select BOM Data File” dialogue.
