Hardware Local Bus Connectors Hardware Power Supply Requirements The Local Bus connectors are included on Base, Expansion and Programming Modules. These connectors are dual row, 14 pin (2 mm spacing) connectors, male on one side of the module and female on the other. Modules are plugged together to supply power and facilitate communication between modules. I/O systems can be powered from DC or AC power sources. No supply is included since the power rating of the supply will depend on the total power requirements of all modules used in the system. When adding an Expansion Module to a Base Module the male connector on the Expansion Module plugs into the female connector on the Base Module. The second Expansion Module plugs into the first, and so on, up to a maximum of six Expansion Modules. If an AC power supply is to be used, it should be 24VAC. Appendix B contains a listing of power requirements for all I/O modules. If a DC power supply is to be used, it is important to note whether the system will include DO’s with sourcing outputs. • Systems which incorporate DO’s with sourcing (PNP transistor) outputs on the Base Module or any Expansion Modules must be powered with a supply voltage range of 10 to 46 VDC maximum. • Systems in which all digital outputs have sinking (NPN transistor) outputs on the Base Module and all Expansion Modules (no sourcing drivers) can be powered with a supply voltage range of 10 to 48 VDC. Refer to the I/O Options and Characteristics section for more information on sourcing and sinking outputs. Mounting Hardware I/O modules can be DIN rail mounted. The DIN mounting clip and spring is included on each module. Figure 10. Local Bus Connector On the Programming Module, either Local Bus connector (male or female) can be used to plug into Base or Expansion Modules. I/O Connectors I/O connectors for Base and Expansion Modules are removable (plug in) screw terminal blocks located on the front of the unit. Terminal spacing is 3.5 mm. Depending on the specific model, the number of terminals may vary. The maximum is 16 terminals (two 8-terminal blocks). Formatted: Bullets and Numbering Figure 11.
