External storage LUNs do not need to be considered. As more LDEVs are configured, additional licenses for P9000 XP Performance Advisor much also be purchased. See Capacity-Licensed P9000 XP Software section for more details. HP P9000 XP Application Performance Extender Software Overview HP P9000 XP Application Performance Extender Software helps customers prioritize their business applications and give their mission-critical applications the highest priority to achieve a significant improvement in the service levels. It provides end-to-end quality of service from the hosts to the Disk Array. It empowers storage administrators to set bandwidth or response time targets so that Disk Array resources are used effectively to meet the SLA requirements for the key business applications. It helps datacenter administrators to virtualize and consolidate their environment without worrying about performance degradation for their critical applications. With P9000 XP Application Performance Extender, you set performance goals for your business critical applications in terms of minimum average bandwidth that your application must get or maximum average latency allowed for your application response time. The software takes your inputs and works with the Disk Array to achieve the performance targets set by you for your critical applications. This software makes your SAN administration cost effective by reducing the need for application specific storage/cache partitioning. You can dynamically change application priorities based on your real time needs, thereby utilizing your storage resources more efficiently. You can monitor performance of your applications live or view their historical performance against their SLA. P9000 XP Application Performance Extender also notifies you when your applications fail to meet their service level objectives for you to take corrective actions. With the new Dynamic LDEV Ownership Management capability, P9000 XP Application Performance Extender allows LDEVs to be moved dynamically from one micro-processor blade to another depending on how loaded the blades are. This results in improved performance (improved quality of service) and better utilization of P9500 XP array resources. Dynamic LDEV Ownership Management feature is an array based capability and it does not matter on the type of hosts connected with P9500 XP Disk Array. Models P9000 XP Application Performance Extender works with P9500 XP, XP24000, and XP20000 Disk Arrays.
