OmniClient –User’s Guide (V1.02) 8.1. Installing/Removing the Expansion Cards The expansion cards for the performance extension of your system can be installed into the free slot of the riser card. Please consider following instruction when you install (or remove) expansion cards. It is recommended to expand your system with additional PCIe cards before it is installed on a panel or into an industrial cabinet. 1. Close all applications; shut down the system properly and disconnect the power cord from the power source. Disconnect all peripherals. 2. The OmniClient system should lay on a flat, clean surface with the front panel downwards. (Make sure that the display surface is protected against scratching and damage). 3. Loosen the two computer base cover screws that secure cover to the computer base (refer to figure 12, position 2) and slide the access door away from the computer base to open. 4. To remove/install an expansion card, you have to remove the corresponding expansion card/slot retaining bracket (refer to figure 8, position 6). Loosen the corresponding fastening screw, which secures the slot bracket and remove it. Retain the screws and retaining bracket for later use. 5. Insert/remove the PCIe card from the riser card. 6. If you are removing a PCIe expansion card, re-insert a slot blank plate. 7. Secure the PCIe bracket to the chassis by reattaching the retaining bracket with the fastening screw from step 4. 8. Slide the access door onto the computer base and secure it with the two cover screws. www.kontron.com 31
