Changing Test Settings
For All CDX 2013 Products
For Secondary and Post-Secondary Schools

Log into your site with your teacher account.

Select the content area where the test you want to update is located.

Locate any Course or Chapter Pre-Test, Topic Group Quiz, or Course/Chapter Final
Exam.

Click the title of the test to open it.

Click Update this Quiz.

Do not change the Name of the test.

Open the quiz determines when the test will become available for students.

Close the quiz determines when the test will become unavailable to students.

Time limit allows you to set a limit in minutes for each attempt.

Time delay between first and second attempts enforces a delay before students can
make a second attempt on the same test.

Time delay between later attempts enforces a delay after the second attempt is made.

This example shows an test that has been set to become available to students on
October 19 and close on October 26. The Disable boxes must be unchecked to allow
open and close dates to be selected.

This example shows setting the Time limit to 50 minutes for each attempt. The Enable
box must be checked to enforce a time limit.

This example shows an test set to force a 30 minute delay between the first and
second attempts, and a 4 hour delay between subsequent attempts.

This example shows an test that has been locked down so student’s can’t make attempts. The
easiest way to make an test unavailable is to uncheck the Disable boxes, and set the Open and
Close dates to today’s date. The test will instantly become unavailable to all students.

Scrolling further on the page you will see display options, which allow you to determine the
number of Questions per page, whether questions are shuffled in order, and whether the
answers within questions will be shuffled in order. To see more information about any setting,
click the yellow question mark.

Attempts allowed enables you to limit the total number of attempts students can
make on the test. Each attempt builds on the last, and Adaptive mode should typically
be set to “No”.

Grading method allows you to determine how students’ grades will be displayed in
your gradebook reports.

The review options section changes what information students will be shown when they
are done taking the quiz, or, when they go back to view past attempts.
Responses: What the student entered in response to each question
Answers: The correct answer to each question is shown.
Feedback: The pieces of feedback that are specific to the student's response to each question.
General feedback: The general feedback for the question, which does not depend on the student's response.
Scores: Numerical information about the score the student received on each question.
Overall feedback: The Overall Feedback for the whole attempt, which is set up further down the settings form.

Other advanced settings are also available. Click the yellow question mark next to any of them to
get more information.
Once you have finished setting the parameters, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save
and display.

The test should now display your custom settings.
