O SnapServ ver® Co onfigurration Guide G 2.3 General N Notes on Sn napServer N NAS Models and Conffigurations 2.3.1 1 SnapServver N2000 M Memory Con nfiguration All co onfigurations of the N2000 prroduct include 2GB of memo ory (1 x 2GB meemory modulee) standard. 2.3.2 2 SnapServver 410 Mem mory Upgrad des Theree are 2 availablle slots for add ding additional memory modules. SnapServver 410 system ms are delivered d pre‐configured with 1GB (2 2 x 512 2MB Memory M Modules). The pair of memorry slots must co ontain the sam me size memorry module. Upggrading to 2GB B requires replacing the includ ded memory m modules with 2 x 1GB memoryy modules. 2.3.3 3 Configured Capacityy Guard dianOS 12‐Drivve and 4‐Drive SnapServer NA AS systems are e shipped conffigured with 4‐Drive RAID 5 sets while the 1 1‐Drive and 2‐Drivve SnapServer NAS systems aare shipped co onfigured with no RAID and R RAID 0, respecttively. The “Usaable Capacity” estimate rowss in all the tables abo ove reflect thesse defaults. The e default confiiguration may be modified acccording to thee instructions iin the des. Administration Guid 3 SnapServe er NAS Cap pacity Expaansion The gguidelines below provide configuration and ordering inforrmation for Sn apServer NAS capacity expan nsion on scalab ble SnapServerr NAS ssystems. 3.1 SnapServver Expansio on E2000 SnapSServer N2000 m models supporrt expansion w with SnapServer Expansion E22000 units. Thee SnapServer Expansion E200 00 can be configgured with fou ur (4) to twelve e (12) SATA II o or SAS drives w when being use d with SnapSeerver N2000 systems; howeveer, drives mustt be the same rotatio onal speeds in ccolumns of thrree drives. Thiss means that SA drives cannot b be mixed within the same AS and SATA d mn of 3 drives, but they can o occupy adjacen nt columns. It is also recomm mended that drrives of the sam me rotational sspeed be kept colum in con ntiguous colum mns (e.g. It wou uld not be reco ommended to have a columnn of SAS follow wed by a column of SATA follo owed by a colum mn of SAS again n). Multiple Sn napServer Expaansion E2000 JB BOD units can be added with h different capacities. 3.1.1 1 SnapServver Expansio on E2000 Ovverview The SSnapServer Exp pansion E2000 can be utilized d to provide ad dditional expannsion capacity to SnapServer NAS N2000, SnapSAN S2000 0, and REO 460 00 systems. pansion E2000 can be configu ured with up to o 12 SATA II or r SAS Drives. Sn napServer Expaansion E2000 JJBOD units The SSnapServer Exp includ de SAS I/O Con ntrollers for bo oth input from tthe SnapServe er N2000 system m as well as daaisy chaining to o additional Sn napServer Expan nsion E2000 JB BOD units, E200 00 units also in nclude a rail‐kitt for each rackk installation an nd a 1‐meter eexternal SAS caable for conneecting to an N2 2000 system or daisy chaining to another EE2000 expansioon unit. 00 units are solld without drivves and containn 8 drive slot b blanks. It supports tthe use of both h SATA and Serrial Attach SCSII (SAS) disk drivves in various ccapacities and rotational speeeds. pansion S50 can be configure ed with up to 12 SATA or SAS drives; howevver, drives musst be the same rotational The SSnapServer Exp speed ds in columns o of three drivess. This means that SAS and SA ATA drives can not be mixed w within the sam me column of 3 drives, but they ccan occupy adjjacent columns. It is also reco ommended that drives of thee same rotatio onal speed be kkept in contigu uous columns (e.g. IIt would not be e recommende ed to have a co olumn of SAS fo ollowed by a ccolumn of SATA A followed by aa column of SA AS again).
