Open Tape Drive
During normal library operations, the CHM automatically inserts
cartridges into the tape drive and removes them, as required. If
you need to manually remove a data cartridge from the tape drive,
follow these instructions to unload the tape drive using the Open
Tape Drive option from the operator panel.
CAUTION
Do not open the library door and attempt to
unload the tape drive using the Unload button on
the faceplate of the tape drive. Pressing the
Unload button does not eject the data cartridge—
the tape drive is still “ closed.”
Do not attempt to open the tape drive manually
by moving the handle. Manually forcing the
handle to open or close the tape drive can damage
the tape drive and may cause injury.
To open the tape drive from the operator panel:
1. If security has been enabled, disable it (see page 33).
2. Switch to LCD Interface mode (see page 45).
