8 3000 Power Supply Equipment 8.1 General Description The 3000 power supply unit (PSU) may be used to power two independent, co-located 3200 equipments. The 3RU shelf may be equipped with up to 4 plug-in PSUs depending on the chassis options supplied. Available combinations include: Single Power Supply (1 PSU), Dual Power Supply (2 independent PSUs), Single Redundant Power Supply (2 PSUs in parallel) or Dual Redundant Power Supply (2 independent sets of paralleled PSUs). Single versions occupy half the chassis, the right hand side viewed from the front. Two paralleled PSUs provide redundant operation with active current sharing and hot-swap capability. Both AC, 240V/115V switch selectable, and -48VDC PSUs are available. A 24VDC version is available to special order. Each PSU has a power input switch, fuse and power good indicator on the front panel. PSU connectors are coded to prevent accidental plugging-in to the wrong chassis type. 8.2 Mechanical Layout The Power Unit Shelf is a 19 inch 3RU chassis assembly. Figure 8-1 shows the front layout of the unit and the positions of the PSUs in a fully equipped chassis.
