They enable you to separate your VGA monitor, keyboard, and mouse from a CPU at distances much farther than what‘s possible with ordinary KVM cables. Serial and audio support, too. If you also need to extend RS-232 port data, for example, to connect serial devices such as touch screens, order the KVM extenders featuring serial support. There are also versions for extending high-quality sound along with serial signals. They’re particularly useful in applications in which you need to hear audio alerts on remote monitors. All extender kits include local and remote units, and CPU cables; dualaccess units also include monitor cables. Kits that support serial and/or audio extension also come with serial and/or audio cables. Local and remote components communicate over a single dedicated UTP cable, and keyboard, mouse, and video signals—as well as serial and audio signals on models that support them—are fully buffered to ensure consistent remote operation of your PC. With the dual-access models, you can attach an additional monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the local unit. You can then operate the PC from either the local or remote user station. These stations share access on a “first-come, first-served“ basis. Ultimate video at the remote end. You can expect clear, high-resolution video at the remote end with these KVM extenders. Remote units feature a built-in skew compensator that removes unsightly color shadows by delaying some color signals so that all color signals arrive at the same time at the remote end. With the CATx extender kits, simple keyboard hotkey commands enable you to fine-tune the monitor image to fix skew attenuation and losses. Use keyboard controls to equalize red, green, and blue to compensate for the differing pair lengths found in CAT5e and higher cables. Independent low-frequency (LF) and high-frequency (HF) equalization adjustment ensure optimum video tuning. Preset modes also help you find the right image balance quickly, and Quick Skew features help make video tuning nearly automatic. The precise equalization on the CATx extenders enable resolution of 1280 x 1024 up to 300 m or 1600 x 1200 resolution up to 200 m. With the CAT5 extender kits, you can achieve 1600 x 1280 resolution up to 60.9 m, 1280 x 1024 resolution at 91.4 m, or 1024 x 768 resolution at 304.8 m.
