• Erect and maintain according to manufacturer’s
recommendations. Secure poles to house with
rigid triangular bracing at the top, bottom and
other points as necessary.
• Intermediate bracing is to be used on wood
poles at 10 foot intervals
• Pump jack brackets, braces and accessories
shouldbe fabricated from metal plates and
angles
• All poles should bear on mud sills on adequate
firm foundations.
• Poles made of straight-grain wood must be
free ofshakes, large loose or dead knots, and
other defects, and should be nailed 12 inches
on center on both sides, with 30-foot maximum
height.
• Install guardrails (workbench may serve as top
guardrail). Platform brackets should be fully
planked and secured.

Pump Jack Scaffolding
• Ladders used to support ladder jacks shall be
placed, fastened or equipped with devices to
prevent slipping. Access should be provided by
an additional ladder.
• Plank bracket must be at least 12 inches wide
on each rung.
• Platform should not exceed 20 feet in height
and should be a minimum of 12 inches wide.
Do not bridge platforms to each other.
• A personal fall protection system is required
where heights exceed 10 feet.

indow Jack Scaffolding
• Scaffolds should be securely attached to the
window opening.
• Scaffolds shall be used only for the purpose of
working at the window opening through which
the jack is placed.
• Window jacks shall not be used to support
planks placed between one window jack and
another, or for other elements of scaffolding.
• A personal fall protection system is required
where heights exceed 10 feet.
