5820A Operators Manual 5-4. Testing the IEEE-488 Port The procedure below tests IEEE-488 communications between the PC and the 5820A Calibrator using the GPIBTEST utility. (See Figure 5-3.) This utility is supplied with the Ziatech ZT-1444A IEEE-488 interface for the PC, which is the recommended interface. (See Chapter 9.) As a reference, Appendix C shows the correct configuration of the ZT-1444A jumpers and DIP switches for various installation configurations. A typical connection is shown below. Testing the IEEE-488 Port Complete the following procedure to test IEEE-488 operation using GPIBTEST. 1. Complete the “IEEE-488 Port Setup Procedure” earlier in this chapter to set up the 5820A for GPIB operation. Note the GPIB Address Port (default is 4). 2. Connect the PC and 5820A IEEE-488 ports using a standard IEEE-488 cable. (See Chapter 9 for IEEE-488 cables available from Fluke.) 3. Open Windows to the Program Manager screen on your PC. 4. To start the GPIBTEST utility, open GPIB Test from the GPIB group of Program Manager (below). oq018f.bmp If you have not yet created this group and icon, complete the following: a.
