The PFP tray motor (M27), (M28) or (M29) turns ON and raises the cassette tray when the cassette switch detects that a cassette is installed. The pa- PFP tray-up switch PFP paper-empty switch per on the tray contacts with the PFP pick-up roller, which pushes up the roller. When the pick-up arm Actuator Pick-up roller is detected by the tray-up switch (S30), (S34) or (S38), the tray motor turns OFF and the tray stops. This position becomes the paper-feed position. If there is paper on the tray, the actuator at the center Pick-up arm Cassette tray Paper of the PFP pick-up roller is also detected by the PFP paper-empty switch (S29), (S33) or (S37). If there is no paper on the tray, then the actuator enters the hole in the tray (only at the position of the actuator) and does not reach the PFP paperempty switch detection position, indicating that there is no paper.
