Validation & Revision of Learning Goals which needs to be fixed. This is not an error in general but needs to be checked. [Coaches should provide support to this check] • Maybe the tasks are really complex and need a lot of learning goals. • Maybe the learning goals are rather low-level and detailed. • Maybe the tasks are very high-level and abstract. Implications: the possible explanations should be looked at • it should be reconsidered if the task should be broken down. Maybe the task is a super-task in the task model. • This is one way to improve the TASK MODEL (wrt. completeness) • list of tasks with the same set of learning goals: if there are tasks that have exactly the same learning goals this could suggest to join, or to delete, tasks with this property. • list of learning goals not connected to any task: learning goals should always be associated to a task. Therefore if there are learning goals not connected to any task this is an error and needs to be fixed. • list of learning goals connected to only 1 task: If a huge number of learning goals are assigned only to one (few) task, the system has less information to discriminate between different learning goals, and in particular to know which learning goals are “pre-requisites”of others (that is which “simple” learning goals must be achieved first in order to achieve “more difficult” learning goals). This was a big problem for P2, because the pre-requisite between learning goals was computed from the task-learning goal assignment but should be less problematic this year as a different strategy is used to compute pre-requisites between learning goals. Therefore possible changes should be first discussed with the coaches. 2.3 Connection between Domain Model and Task Model • list of domain elements not connected to any task: domain elements not connected to any task will never be used in selecting learning material starting from a task, but will only be used in the free search, or in the “Topic Selection” of APOSDLE Suggests. Moreover, they will not be part of the prerequisite relation, which orders the topics/learning goals in ones being prerequisites of others. The results of this test should be considered to check if some of the domain elements not connected to any task are instead needed as knowledge required for some task. • list of domain concepts connected to only 1 task: If a huge number of domain concepts are assigned only to one (few) task, the system has less information to discriminate between different learning goals, and in particular to know which learning goals are “pre-requisites”of others (that is which “simple” learning goals must be achieved first in order to achieve “more difficult” learning goals). This was a big problem for P2, because the pre-requisite between learning goals was computed from the task-learning goal assignment but should be less problematic this year as a different strategy is used to compute pre-requisites between learning goals. Therefore possible changes should be first discussed with the coaches. 2.4 Learning Goal Types • list of never used learning goal type: this is not necessarily an error but should be checked. © APOSDLE consortium: all rights reserved page 4
