User-defined Character Set Command: USET
The USET command is used to create a character set by substituting up to 16 characters from the
Multinational Extended Character Set. Once defined by the USET command, the character set can be
selected by the ISET command.
A comparison of the ASCII and foreign character charts (excluding OCR-A, OCR-B, and Multinational
Extended Character Sets) in Appendix B will show that only 16 hex values produce different characters among the various sets. For example, hex 41 produces a capital A regardless of the character set
used. But the character produced hex 7B differs among the various sets.

To visualize how the USET command works, assume that the characters that correspond to these hex
values are removed from the ASCII table, leaving 16 open spaces. The USET command allows you to
substitute hex values from the Multinational Extended Character Set in those 16 spaces, which
creates a new character set. You can create up to eight such sets. You do not have to use all 16
character positions. OCR characters are not available for substitution.
USET character sets are identified by numbers 1 through 8 and are accessed by ISET numbers 24
through 31. The set you create as USET1 is accessed as ISET24, ISET25, etc.

Specifies the user-defined character set number; enter a value 1 to 8.

Character Cell Address: The hex value of the ASCII cell address to be
replaced by the substitute font address (Fa). Enter one of the following 16 hex
values: 21,22,23,24,25,26,40,53,5C,5D,5E,60,7B,7C,7D, or 7E.
