Connection to the Host
Connecting through the Serial Interface
The V530-R160's serial interface (RS-232C/RS-422 connector) can be used to connect input signals
such as reading triggers or output signals such as reading judgements. Additionally, data that has been
set in the V530-R160 can be backed up in a personal computer. The connection method is explained
here.
For details on how to set the communication specifications and the I/O format, see SECTION 8

Check the following points before starting communications using the serial interface.
Points to check
Is the cable connected properly?
Check the cable type, pin numbers, and signals names.
Are the SYS/Communication settings appropriate?
• Is the communications mode setting at SYS/Communication/RS-232C/
422 appropriate?
For a no-protocol connection ••• Normal
For a host link connection ••• Host link
• When the 1:1 connection is made, is the SYS/Communication/Multidrop setting OFF?
• Is the SYS/Communication/Data Output Setting/Polling setting OFF?
Is the controller set to the RUN mode?
