Chapter 4 System Setup
Database Backup
A schedule for backing up the database is not present by default. When you click the Schedule
button for the first time, the process of creating a schedule will begin.
By default, the schedule Name is Database Backup. This cannot be changed. The default interval
settings are those recommended by Albany Software Ltd, running every night on weekdays. Your
organisation may wish to change this.
The schedule is On Hold by default to ensure that backups do not begin until you are sure that it is
all set up correctly, at which point you must open this dialog and click in the Active option.
Non Processing Days
In respect of Non Processing Days, the refreshed view will show all available non processing
days in the future, sorted in ascending date order. Any stored dates earlier than the current system
date are not displayed. The following illustration shows the default schedule for Non Processing
Days. This can be changed to suit the requirements for each organisation:

Using the options provided, this can be changed to a weekly or even daily schedule, if deemed
necessary.

It is worth considering the issues with an increase in scheduling frequency where it may have an
impact on performance. Albany Software Ltd considers a monthly schedule suitable for most
organisations.
