CHAPTER FIVE Measuring/Editing a Hue/Gray Reference The reference function is used to enter hue error and grayness reference data into the instrument. The reference data is stored in the instrument until changed. Hue/Gray reference values are then compared to Hue/Gray measurements and the difference displayed. The instrument maintains separate reference data for each of the filter values. HUE/GRAY—REF Paper Hue/Gray Reference Options h 0% g 0% Y —> C <Measure Ref> T To measure a reference: 1. If not selected, press the Tab Up key $ or Tab Down key @ to highlight Reference. The reference values displayed are the current values set in the instrument. NOTE: Reference will not appear in the measurement list unless HUE/GRAY–REF is selected as the active Hue/Gray mode. Refer to Hue/Gray Measurement Mode earlier in this section. 2. Center the instrument target window over the reference, and lower the instrument to take a reading. The reference value(s) is updated. To manually edit reference values: 1. If not selected, press the Tab Up key $ or Tab Down key @ to highlight Reference. The reference values displayed are the current values set in the instrument. NOTE: Reference will not appear in the measurement list unless HUE/GRAY–REF is selected as the active Hue/Gray mode. Refer to Hue/Gray Measurement Mode earlier in this section. 2. Press the Enter key # to move the highlight to the data side of the screen. <Enter Ref> appears in the user dialog. 3. Press the Tab Up key $ or Tab Down key @ to highlight desired attribute. 4. Press the Enter key # to access Reference menu. 5. Use the Tab keys $@ to move the cursor to desired digit. Press Enter key # to access editor. 5-44
