Important: Battery is built into top case assembly
The MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) and MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013) battery is built into the top case assembly. DO
NOT attempt to separate or remove the battery from the top case. It is NOT a stand-alone part.
To replace a defective battery, you must replace the entire top case assembly with battery.
Immediately after removing the bottom case
Attach Battery Cover.
Disconnect the battery cable from the logic board.

Product Identification
The name “MacBook Pro” appears on the bottom case rather than on the base of the display:
The EMC number on the bottom case determines if the computer is a Mid 2012 or Early 2013 model:
